Let's say all of a sudden there were no more illegal drugs on the street. You think this is something law enforcement would really want to see happen?

It would take away jobs since there would not be a need for drug task force, etc. There would be less crime because there would no longer be illegal dealers on the street..

Thoughts?

No, they don't. The War on Drugs has been an incredible boon to the law enforcement section of our economy, and there is very little to show for it. The prices of most major drugs have dropped, and in most cities you can find whatever drug you want after maybe an hour of asking around. I do not do illegal drugs, and have no want to, but to see the WoD as anything but an abject failure is insanity.

It would be in the best interest of society if all drugs were legalized.

I prefer decriminalization as opposed to full legalization

Same outcome I suppose. We aren't stopping people from doing them anyway.

All the war on drugs has done is make criminals out of addicts and create these massive black markets that fund criminal organizations like the cartels.

Bingo.

“See, if you look at the drug war from a purely economic point of view, the role of the government is to protect the drug cartel. That's literally true.”

No, they generate way too much revenue from drug arrests and seizures.

Meth heads smoking meth in no way bothers me.

Meth heads doing meth head shite like robbing houses or killing to get their high does bother me.

It's a manner of method. Do you stop the robbing and killing or stop the root cause?

No, because they wouldn't be able to confiscate/steal shite from people who haven't been convicted of anything.

Me too.

The black market for drugs is far more dangerous for a society than legalization ever will be. The government gives Cartels less competition and more power.
