e.g. a seamless link between a computer and the human mind.

it could lead people to make better decisions by being able to access and process information quicker

it could lead to a handful of people with initial access who decide to cut off that access and rule the world as tyrants

it could lead to a spontaneous peace and harmony through empathy since we would be able to understand each other on deeper levels

it could also lead to spontaneous mass murder because we would be able to understand each other on deeper levels

We already have people that are very mad about how unfair life is for some people, and now you want to add to that unfairness? Who do you think would be able to afford this cognitive boost?

So what you're saying is that I don't have to use a computer to look at porn anymore?

On the Rogan podcast with Musk, Musk talking about this is what I found most intriguing. Could a lot of positive things happen because of this? Sure, but I worry that to begin it will be so expensive only the super rich can afford it and will not allow this access to others. If it's possible, it would be similar to the movie "Limitless". It could be used to cure world hunger, disease, etc. Or it could be used to destroy the world.

I'm still intrigued though.

if the market is left alone, i think it decreases in price really quickly.

also, you could take out a loan leveraged by your future abilities to make more money since you'd be smarter.

you'd be accessing a computer, but not in the same way you do now.

You need credit for a loan.

That is probably how it would work.

The gap between the haves and have-nots would only get wider.

People have more access to information now than at any point in history and they are worse at critical thinking than ever.

People don't make poor decisions because they are ignorant. They know it's a bad decision and they do it anyway.

The teacher knows it's wrong to frick their student. The fatty knows they shouldn't order the large fry. The drunk knows he shouldn't get behind the wheel. But they do it anyway.

lol... dude, there are people trying to make this happen as we speak. god only knows how much progress has been made. think of the chinese, the russians, trying to get an edge on the rest of the world by any means necessary.

be naive if you want, but these are things we should all be discussing

If everyone can do this, where is the leverage?

great point. i fear that humans are by nature too emotionally volatile to be trusted with so much power.

I don’t see how being able to access the internet slightly faster and without a handheld device would make anyone smarter. Unless the implant changes something in how your neurons are structured, it just seems like people would be able to watch porn in their head.

we're not talking about slightly faster, we're talking about near instantaneously. at that point, there is essentially no difference between your brain and a computer.

our economy and world works because we use people to do all the things we don't have time to learn to do. this would allow you to completely bypass the leaning process for virtually everything.

Don’t we already have a loose connection to the brain and the human mind through user inputs?

It’s made us much more productive.
