It will happen sooner than later. Invest in porn advancements, tho. Rather than learning the secerts of the universe, some idiots will have a fully interactive VR sex robot experiance hit the market ASAP.

The internet has the capability to be used this way; instead of making better decisions that are reached through logic people primarily use it to get laid, procure confirmation bias material, or as substitute for actual thought

also, you could take out a loan leveraged by your future abilities to make more money since you'd be smarter.

So college, basically.

That's been an interesting point of speculation for quite some time. But I am uncertain if cognitive ability is what people are working on increasing, more like information access. Just my point of view. The decision making apparatus of the brain is still in charge. People look at good data all the time and still make bad decisions.

But I doubt more information is bad.

And for those who believe this is not a real thing people are investigating or working on, Here are a few links pointing to things related to this goal.

Google and Facebook will make sure it's affordable so they can probe your mind.

Maybe a watered down, ad filled version. If it could simultaneously answer any question you, presumably make you smarter, the creators would not want everyone to have the ability to create, run, etc a business that could potentially hurt theirs. No way anyone would give seemingly endless possibilities to whoever could afford it because that would put the average citizen on the same playing field.

That does makes sense and thanks for clarifying the distinction. I assume there will have to be some kind of cognitive upgrade in order to process all the information without going nuts. It’s always been assumed that he brain is capable of much more than we use of it, and perhaps some kind of electronic stimulation will produce the desired effect, but honestly I have no clue.

For the most part access to instant information has been more of a distraction and used for entertainment. I would imagine that would continue with this. This would benefit people who are successful already or would be without it, this wouldn't change a persons DNA or personality make up.

It would still change a lot. For instance if you are into stocks, you get the information of either great or terrible news and can instantly buy or sell.

Well you bring up a good point, and it just so happens I'm an options trader. I wish it were that simple, but there's a lot more to it than that. My software has an AI feature but I haven't found it reliable. I'm not saying this wouldn't help, but it wouldn't be like limitless.

I am not saying it would be like limitless, but as someone who is very green in investing in the stock market, it would definitely help. I actually want to get into option trading but don't have the approval yet from Fidelity.

Prodigio has really good indicators for futures trading, and instant access to that would be nice. But I'm not ready to wire my brain up to a computer just yet.

I imagine it'll be like when people first started downloading apps on their phones, and freaked out about how much access to personal information they wanted permission for. Now no one gives it a second thought.

I still don't see exactly how it could be wired into someone's thought if I am being honest. It's a cool concept but how it could read your cognitive thoughts and synapse is well beyond my comprehension

We as a society need to focus on integrity and morals. People are assholes these days.

Good luck with that. Until our biology changes, people will generally always do what they think is in their best interest even though in the long run it probably isn’t. We humans don’t long term plan well. We are still animals and that ain’t changing soon.

Whose?

People have always been assholes

Need a machine that drops everyone’s intelligence to the same level, maybe a nice docile 90 IQ. Call it the internet

e.g. a seamless link between a computer and the human mind.

This will require the development of quantum computers. Humans are at the threshold of this technology.

The brain is a quantum computer. However, it is limited by the debris that came with evolution.

With a pure machine quantum computer, humans will no longer be relevant in the exploration of knowledge. However, they will be cared for and maintained as the biological progenitors of artificial super intelligence. Promise.
