Lakeshore or upper garden district were comparable to nice areas of Atlanta I would say yes

New Orleans has beautiful, unique neighborhoods, but Atlanta stomps on them when it comes to amenities and sheer quantity of housing and neighborhood options.

And, sadly, New Orleans greatly under performs when it comes to white collar jobs. It hasn’t been competitive with Atlanta or even Memphis in at least a generation.

South Louisiana needs to beef up the infrastructure between Baton Rouge and New Orleans and attempt to market the two metros as one. More highways, better schools, better flood protection, and a shared hub airport are needed. Even then, the picture is pretty bleak for Louisiana.

which specifically are you talking about? People refer to "atlanta metro" as even as far as east gwinnett which is like 40 minutes away. Kinda depends on where you're looking.

Compare the land area size and the populations of BR or even Nola and ATL then tell me the traffic problems are worse in atl. Give me a break. I’ve never spent more than an hour in atl and I already know the traffic can’t be worse

If you live in Alphretta and work down there you will be in the car 3 hours a day on your commute just on a normal day.

Midtown to Alpharetta is 1 hr each way daily, if you leave before 6:50, there is almost no traffic until midtown.

Afternoon traffic is by far the worst as far as coming to a complete stop, but thats spotty as well and not for the duration

the issue with Atlanta rush hour, IMO, is that it seems to start very early. I've been on the road by 5 am in attempt to beat the traffic and still wound up in bumper to bumper traffic. Same goes for the evenings. It just seems to drag out much longer than other places I've been. The evenings are when I've had my worst experiences, though.

Fwiw I live in Nashville and it's getting pretty bad too.

Atlanta is a lot bigger too.

You have to think relatively though. Going across Baton Rouge isn’t really that far of a journey, but can take forever at certain times.

Going from the suburbs to downtown ATL is like 30+ minutes without traffic because it’s far more spread out than BR or New Orleans.

Some days it can take an hour and a half from Lobdell to Prairieville. That’s literally like 12 miles or so

no doubt, that's why I said it still doesn't compare to major cities. OP should not think Atlanta traffic is going to be better than BR. It will not be.

I promise that if you spend more than an hour in Atlanta, you wouldn’t complain quite as much about traffic issues in Baton Rouge or New Orleans.

can't speak to Montgomery, but agree on Beaumont. Still think Jackson is lower than Beaumont, tho. Especially given it's Mayor.

Yep. It sucks and it could be solved with expanded freeway capacity. That makes it even more frustrating. Louisiana has all those taxes but fails to invest in meaningful infrastructure.

But Atlanta traffic is on another level of fricked up.

Atl is 12th worst traffic in america, and BR is 13th in terms of time spent in congestion (27% to 26% comparatively) LINK

However, that is remarkable considering BRs metro population is 830k and ATL is 5.5 million

I moved from a city that took like 30 minutes to go from the most northern part to the most southern part.

That’s a nothing drive in Dallas.

It’s all relative.

DFW at 34 with a metro of 7.4 million.

And people complain about constant upgrades to major roads.

The 2017 INRIX Global Traffic Scorecard, released Tuesday, shows Atlanta has the eighth-worst traffic congestion in the world for the second consecutive year. The region rivals such renowned American traffic congestion capitals as Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco, as well as international cities such as Moscow, Sao Paolo and London.

how is traffic in Dallas, anyway? Everyone bitches about Houston or ATL, but considering how many people they move, I don't think its THAT bad.

Dallas similar?
