I will take anywhere in the Hill Country 10 out of 10 over Baton Rouge. Then again, I'd take almost anyplace in the country over BR. Probably the worst city I've ever spent considerable time in.

Outside of LSU, it's a true shithole with no redeeming value. At least Lafayette and New Orleans have good food and shite to do. Baton Rouge fricking sucks.

Iowa is pretty great. There are a couple of months when winter could be brutal, but it’s not a season long thing. We could have say a week of sub-zero temps, then will warm up into the teens, and sometimes even get to 30-ish. But man, April through November are awesome. Summers are pretty mild, compared to the deep south.

Missouri just South and slightly west of St.Louis. It's pretty nice. Hill Country and a nice albeit rather small wine country

I also found later that my sinuses hated the great plains in fall. All the way to Arizona, I dripped and nothing would stop it.

the ragweed is a real problem here in the fall

I lived in Austin for 5-6 years in the early/mid-aughts. Went to ACL Fest when it was still at the end of September (pretty sure they moved it back a week or 2 into October now). Me and my roommate went out there early because we wanted to get up close to the stage for Black Crowes and Coldplay (they closed the show).

Anyway, shows were great, but one of the most miserable days of my life. It was bumping 107 that day. 107. Last Saturday of September. There is no fall in the Hill Country. Some days the wind blows hard enough to make it bearable, though.

Where else isn't insanely priced and decent weather?
The Serengeti. Prices are great. It's near equatorial, and the 6000ft elevation leaves temps moderate year around.

If you would get out in the “hot” months and really work or play…. This time of year would seem like more of a gift. Usually it gets wet here when the “good” weather comes. Less than 90 is GREAT!

Ive been in San Marcos the last two days and its absolutely gorgeous. 67 in the morning w a high of 87 with no humidity and a light breeze. Had lunch outside on the square

Other than cross country skiing there is not a single outdoor activity you couldn't enjoy with kids today.

In the shade and at night it's fine. Mornings are fine too. But 90 with direct sun and the kids are hot and the playground equipment is on fire. It's not that bad, but it's also not the 78 that's the average high for this time of year.

Fall is usually awesome here. Not this year.

yep, lived there for five years.

Compared to Louisiana it's like living in the Swiss Alps both demographically and topography wise.

it's a lot more similar to louisiana than the swiss alps, but the fact that you compared it to BR/LA kind of says it all.

Colorado Springs if you are worried about cost. Colorado has the best 4 season weather in the world.

I've been to the Swiss alps. Gorgeous but I couldn't live there.

Insane expensive.

Great beer though.

Bern was really cool. I like Swiss German way more than the French area
