Lifeguard. Second degree sunburn, hot females were rare to nonexistent, highlight of the day was picking up dirty diapers around the kiddie pool.

Movie theater during the run of Star Wars Episode 1, between the quality of people dealt with and the bullshite from George Lucas pushed down to us peons about all kinds of threats if we frick things up for his movie. Some of it was normal shite but it included ushers being threatened with firing and lawsuits if they stayed in the theater more than like 5 minutes at any one clip.

The theater chain put up with it because ticket sales were pretty much guaranteed.

Door to door sales.

I rarely even open the door for them now but I can respect how brutal that job is…

Building board roads in the marsh.

Loading hay bales in the field, but worse, unloading them in the barn afterward.

Cleaning barges on da river was more dangerous. Neighbor around the street died on the river. I was shore side but was blessed to live.

Let the Belle Chase boys tell you about V9 and get back with me. The only job that I should have walked off on.

I was a "gopher" for my uncle's home building company. He had no formal education and was mean as shite. I joined the Air Force soon after.

Knocking mortor off old solid clay bricks from a torn down factory with a hatchet and then stacking them on pallets.

I was 14 years old in 100 degree Georgia heat in the wide open. I got paid .05/brick.

In the 1980s, I worked as a "fluffer" on a midget porn set.
Good times...

It wasn't the worst to me, but a lot of people find one job I had to be bad.

I worked at Iowa State's vet school doing research on porcine embryo transfers. One part of that was each Tuesday night I had to collect boar semen and artificially inseminate gilts.

To collect boar semen you have the boar mount a dummy and then apply manual pressure to the corkscrew end of the boar's penis. In other words one night a week for about 18 months I gave hand jobs to boar hogs.

One job I stood in a gigantic box in a tyvek and respirator while a centrifuge dumped sludge into the box. My job was to shovel the sludge off to the sides so the box remained level.

Another one was driving a dump truck in a chemical plant in full ppe including breathing from an oxygen tank attached to the side of the truck and hauling hazardous waste. The AC broke and it was about 100 degrees outside.

Worked for a feed store in high school. We had a couple of hay fields we had to pick up square bales from and then stack in a barn. That shite is miserable from one end to the other.

One summer in college I worked for a fireworks distributor. Spent the early summer unloading 18 wheelers full of fireworks and stacking them in a hot warehouse. Then spent mid summer setting up tents and delivering all the fireworks to each stand. Then spent the end of summer doing inventory, re-stocking what they didn’t sell, and taking the tents down. It sucked!

I was a teenage kid too far from home. She was a lonely widow woman hell bent to make it on her own.
