Oddly enough I have lived in DFW 25 years, but I grew up in Arkansas but never even went to DFW until I was 25. I don't think I ever went west of Ft Smith before 1986. Everything we did was east.

It also highlights that the developed parts of South America are the coastal cities only. Their horrible inland road and highway network prevents a lot of investment away from the coast.
That's apparent with the lack of air traffic originating from inland parts of south America.

Every time I see this thing it puts the safety of Air travel in perspective for me. All those flights in the U.S. taking off and landing safely everyday. With few exceptions.

If there was 1 commercial aircraft crash every single day somewhere in the world, it would still mean that 99.9% took off and landed safely.
