Wife (no pics) works 8-5
I have some flex in my schedule but I go in early, get off @3:30. Could get off at 3 but would be cutting it close getting to kids school

Kids are 9 & 6. Wife gets them on the bus. School lets out @3:30. Too young to stay home alone after school so they go to aftercare.
So we’re paying ~$500/mth for them to take the bus there, wait for 20 minutes & I pick them up. That shite ain’t sittin well

What do you guys do? Give a brother some alternatives! Lol

Marriage counseling...

Side: are your kids not playing sports or some other after school activities? and you left out homework and study time... and dinner...

Try throwing that in....

Ive turned down raises, promotions and job offers to work from home.

I get 6 weeks of PTO and I make my own hours from my house. I bring our daughter to school every day and am home when she gets off the bus. We talk, we run together, listen to christmas music in the car every day (yes, even in August), talk about whats going on, etc.

I would have to be offered AT LEAST twice what I make for me to even consider giving all that up

Find a babysitter or a teenager to be at your house for a few minutes until you get home. Your kids can ride the bus home, have someone there and then you can come home shortly after.

I'm not sure how we did it, but now that mine is away at college I am half-way missing it. Other days I enjoy the hell out of new found free time and less responsibility.

This - theres at least one nerdy teenager in your neighborhood who doesn't play sports or anything and would love to be paid 10 bucks a day to sit on your couch and look at tiktok

I can do a work/home split. Basically leave early, finish from the house. But I’m new, not pushing that just yet. This may work though

I hear ya...at times, it's really frustrating knowing I am over qualified for my job and Im overworked because people know they can lean on me and I'll normally just do it but in the end, I do it for her and for my wife and our time together.

I work to live the life I want and I'd rather get frustrated at work and enjoy what it provides for me than give up things I think are really more valuable.

I had to bum rides to and from baseball practice and games as a kid, now I get to coach my daughters teams. No dollar amount can be put on that to me and her.

Bonus: Pay them to help with the homework and have all that shite done before you get home.

Luckily I work from home so no biggie, kids are 4 and 6, both in elementary school. Also lucky, sorta planned, that one set of grandparents lives in our neighborhood and another not too far down the road.

People that dont have family around and work 9-5s at the office, I feel bad for you, outside of paying out the arse for daycare there arent many options.

While this is probably the best case scenario, with the cost of living today, that's almost impossible...

When I grew up my mom didn't go to worker after I was in HS, where we didn't need my mother staying home and needed to move kids back and forth all the time.

and with the woman's lib BS in the 70's, women wanted to be "career women" double incomes in families became more abundant and spending went out the window. Now society is use to this way of life and there's no way out of it...

Church groups are easy, as well as HOA email chains.
