With the amount of things affecting our lives currently, be it the virus or inflation stress, sadly it is affecting our work force from staying focused. This leads people to make poor decisions. I’m not saying a poor decision is the cause of this incident but outside influences are part of the problem affecting the safety of our workforce in these high risk environments.

You can’t be more right. Those things plus the stress of the vax mandate and more play a big role in loss of focus on the job and on life in general.

It's a little misleading. You can blame the pandemic but it's b/c all the work that was put on hold in 2020 is getting done now. Plant traffic on 73, 44, 22, and further on down 61 is at a 5 year high. And I'm sure that's the case all over the country where the pandemic put a clamp on expansions/turnarounds/etc in 2020.
So, an increase in incidents is expected.

We've had too many close calls.
At some point management better figure out all the extra safety crap, masks, rules, burn out were going backward.
I just hope it's not one of my guys.
There are so many CBTs, safety bulletins, rule changes everyone is on fricking edge. I'm extremely chill and run crews and I blew a gasket the other day and pulled my guys off s job and refused to do it because of all the extra bullshite last week.
It's way to damn distracting. Every day is another email, something new, something changed.

I've worked with that before. Freaking unpredictable. Probably died a hard death, but relatively quickly. Prayers for family.

Working as a distributor for industrial material for these plants and refineries, you couldn't be more right
I've never been this busy and stressed and customers have never been more demanding in their required lead times for material.
That combined with the global logistical issues, it's made for a very stressful year.

It’s pretty crazy right now, for sure. Between projects that were deferred last year, hurricane repair stuff, other projects that were delayed after Ida, and the upcoming end of fiscal 2021.. it’s a complete and total clusterfrick.
There’s so much going on at a lot of these sites that contractors can’t staff jobs.. so you have a lot of green (or just stupid) hands. You also have a huge push from both owners and contractor management to get shite done.. owners so they can finish their budgets out and contractors so they can get to the next job. Add material delays, constantly starting/stopping projects with new personnel, and reduced office staff and supervision. It’s a recipe for disaster.
