Overheard the wife (no pics) talking about this. Saying groups of women are planning to spend the weekend in NOLA in the hopes of tickets dropping in price right after the concert starts. Apparently this is a thing for all of her concerts.

Sounds like an ideal situation for pimps and traffickers.

Yes
You had to pre register back when tickets went on sale
At every venue they will drop tickets right before concert

hotels right now are higher then super bowl weekend

New Orleans is basically getting two super bowl impacts in a calendar year

I picture a bag of tickets strung up over an open area in front of the venue, a large neutral zone designated where no one can stand, and a bunch of women and their kids around the periphery. The countdown starts......hits zero..........and the mad horde descends on the neutral zone as the tickets drop from the suspended bag above.

I'd pay more to see that show than Taylor if I'm being honest.

How would it stop "supposed" private sellers from scamming poor, unsuspecting mom's from Birmingham?

It's a thing for all events. Scalpers will be in full force selling fake tickets for thousands.

As a dad of two young T swift fans, I can say that the secondary ticket market needs a makeover. It’s ridiculous.

Not shocked that you are all knowing about a swift concert.

You didn’t take even the most basic economics course in college, did you?

I have taken economics. Ticket fees of 1/3 of total ticket price that aren’t disclosed until you checkout are what I’m talking about. It’s fraudulent and misleading.

I will certainly be working from home tomorrow. The CBD will be a clusterfrick.

It is a thing, Ticketmaster releases tickets after the stage is set up, but you had to have preregistered back when tickets were released and know when to be online. And then before the show starts again. People in Miami were getting tickets 15 minutes before for like $150, but I wouldn't bank on that especially if you can't tailgate outside the superdome.

Other stadiums have 10s of thousands of people outside that just hangout and listen to the concert for outdoor stadiums but that does seem fun in NOLA obviously.

I know folks who have done the same thing when Kentucky has played in later rounds of the NCAA Tournament. Show up for the weekend, hope to catch someone either selling their tickets or that a big ticket dump happens right before the event.

That's a whole different issue. There have been congressional hearings on that. But Ticketmaster, StubHub, Seat Geek, etc. have paid off enough politicians to make sure that their fraudulent business model stays intact.

I always swore that if I won a billion dollar lottery, one of the first things I would do is develop and market an alternative to Ticketmaster and the other scumbag ticket sites. You can make a damn good return without charging exorbitant and completely fricking ridiculous fees. Further, the fees would typically not be based on the price of the ticket but rather just a flat fee that provides a good return on your investment it has some relation to your actual cost.

Another reason to avoid NOLA... thanks for adding to a very long list.
