Right.

My point is racism had nothing to do with this so why are there those trying do damn hard to make it so.

so if the officer testified:

quote:

The reason I stopped her is because the vehicle turned down Methodist Parkway about six in the morning and it was still dark. And the Methodist Parkway is some buildings back there. Also, at that time there was a deputy and his family that lived back there. So I stopped her to see what — what was going on and why they was going back there

she wasn't speeding, no broken taillights, turn signal on...why did he pull her over?

Yes. But he was considerably more well connected than these idiots. Ties to the governor and mob bosses.

His authority in his parish was absolute, as more than one state trooper learned.

My grandfather was tasked with keeping him supplied with deer meat, year round.

Two reasons, I think.

First the Court didn't look at previous ticket issuing patterns (as near as I can tell).

Taking that away, you wonder, "what was the motivation for the stop?".

Well, we've got an illiterate (in the professional sense, maybe in every sense) white cop who has no sense of basic law. Then, if you're the Court you think, "He can't be this dumb. He must've only stopped her b/c he saw a black person driving."
Not exactly the first time that ever happened...

I can see how people would logically think this.

That said, it more probably was, based on the thieving practices of this little shithole, just as likely to have been about revenue generation.

So the conclusion is that it's easier to believe (and prove, second reason) he's a racist than an actual thief with a gun and a badge.

And the shitty thing is that the people of Woodworth, although they had a good alternative in the mayor's race last year, decided to put the crook back in. It's not because locals are immune either - the cops prowl the residential areas for speeders also. Road I live on has a 25 mph limit (I usually idle), and it is the one with the Methodist Center drive on it.

Good grief, are they all just so candy-assed and cowardly that they do nothing?

Run his arse out of town and fire that asshats with the badges and guns.

Also note, judge writing the opinion is a BFSJW, but that doesn't make her wrong. Is it OK for cops to just pull you over with no probable cause, just b/c they are curious as to what you are up to?

Based on the fact summary from opinion, after personally meeting the plaintiff and scamming her out of $300 outside the courtroom, the mayor had her arrested at her house and jailed for 25 days on for not paying the rest of these bullshite traffic charges.

I don't see story after story of Asians or Indians getting their asses beat or shot while having interactions with the police. They are certainly minorities. Maybe if blacks and Hispanics weren't so confrontational with massive chips on their shoulders...

Not near as bad since the highway was four laned. Limit went up to 55, but the cops still lurk around the bottom of the bridge.

You see?

You are talking like you have a gotcha that it MUST be race when off the top of my head I already gave two alternatives:

Make and model of car being incongruent with neighborhood is a FAR higher probability than race. Even more so due the lighting conditions.

Or he was bored.

I don't know. I never claimed to. I just said its a bullshite statement to say there is no possible explaination but race.

Whatever the reason this woman was treated the way she was treated may be, the mayor and police officer should both be severely punished.

I think we are all arguing the same side of the coin.

Greed, race, ignorance; they are all piss-poor reasons for a "cop" to eff with somebody.

The Court determined the officer's reason for the stop was the woman's race. Whatever his bs reason was, she won the case and got paid.
Justice ultimately prevailed.

I will give her immense credit for not "taking it" and actually fighting it. Not many of us would've done the same.

My guess is that Woodworth is still Woodworth and they are banking on the fact that not many people have the same balls this lady had.

yeah, i think the current LEO pay hierarchy in Rapides is:
LSP
RPSO
APD
PPD

all the rest of the podunk municipal forces.

So Woodworth isn't getting the best and brightest, and those guys jump around a bit to make more money.
