This boat was under sail without a mast. I could have been any of us in the same situation.

This lady is a family friend of mine. Very strange indeed. She's in very good shape and if she wasn't injured, would know how to handle herself in the water.

We were on a sailboat in Destin years ago....beautiful day....two hours in, I wanted back on dry land ASAP.

The weather turned so quickly on us and it was rough.

Our guide / captain was having a tough time getting us back into calmer waters of the bay. Things can go so wrong so quickly while on those things.

I thought it was strange that she was with a guy 10 years older than her. She is a good girl, so that came as a surprise. I have never met him so I can't say anything about him. I just think this whole thing is strange considering what type of girl she is.

Sailboat Named "Good Humor".

Probably kept at South Shore harbor (just a guess based on where it was found and the fact that I don't recognize the name or the Woman's name).

I keep my sailboat at Orleans Marina. Bad stuff can happen at any time. Chances for this woman are not good. Neither were probably wearing a PFD, sailboaters rarely do. I don't realy know any that do.

Sad story.

No, she's from Baton Rouge and works there as well.

Just to give people some idea of what I meant by her being in good shape, she is heavily involved in fitness and a great swimmer. We've gone on the water from my camp back home plenty of times and she can handle herself in the water. Her not being found already is very worrisome because if she wasn't injured, I believe she would have been found.

Sorry to hear this. From those pictures it does not look like the sailboat was de-masted during a strom. There is no sign of the mast or standing/running rigging. Usually the masts break at some point above the deck, flop over and the sail/broken mast/rigging get towed behind the boat. The top of that hull looks too "clean" for me to say it was de-masted during a storm.

My guess is they jumped in the water to swim and could noot get back to/in the boat. seems silly but with a good breeze. you need to be cognizant of how fast the boat is drifting before you get in the water. You should never swim without someone staying in the boat unless youare certain you can get back in. This is most likely an accidental draowning brought about by the stupidity of the boat owner.

When I swim, I deploy a 100 foot line with a buoy attached to the end. thay way you can grab that and hold on/pull yourself to the boat. I also have a swim platform and a study ladder, that boat does not have a swim platform and likely uses one of the ladder that just hook on to the side. Not good.

Anyway, I'm hoping for the best, but concerned.

ETA: HOLY TYPOS and bad grammar BATMAN. Leaving for the incoming ridicule.

Just heard that the guy is in custody. Not sure if that's just for questioning or if there's something else going on. Either way, as time goes by, it doesn't look good for Sadie.
