You can now “murder” someone without ever intending to harm them and in fact never directly harming them.

No. Not dumb at all. Also not a new concept. If someone dies while you are in commission of a felony, then you are charged with felony murder, even if you didn’t pull the trigger. You set the events in motion in which someone died. Thus, you pay the price.

A reasonable person would know that there is a good chance someone could end up dead during the commission of a felony. It's actually pretty easy to avoid the felony murder rule for those who don't go around committing felonies
