At the time of the kidnapping the victim in that case was an experienced criminal defense attorney, but those guys usually do earn their chops as an ADA

Either way, I'm sure this guy is still on probation and should have been wearing an ankle monitor.
Also....why is only being charged with aggravated kidnapping and not 1st degree murder?

Has it been confirmed that there were recent complaints from other women in the area about someone harassing them on morning runs? If they identify him it shows a ton of premeditation. I will be interested to see if anything was actually done about those complaints, or if memphis pd just shrugged it off

The only mentions I could find about that were that the police weren't sure if he was connected to the Memphis women's cross country team complaints. But I wouldn't doubt it. Fits his MO, but Eliza was much more vulnerable than a group of girls running together.

If he was released from prison after serving time for a conviction, why would he still be on probation? Probation is an alternative to prison, right?

Abston charged with 1st degree murder, kidnapping, especially aggravated kidnapping, tampering with evidence. Also unrelated charges, identity theft, theft of property and fraud. (Wasn't elaborated on, but surely due to the wallet theft days before)
