The Republican governor is just as responsible. I started a thread on PT asking if Gov Bill Lee had commented on his failure to protect innocent people from repeat offenders.
The murderer spent 20 years in prison for kidnapping. I think you've made up your mind to hate republicans and now you are just blindly blaming them for every bad thing committed by criminals. The bills you referenced had no impact on this crime whatsoever.

Lol. You should check out my post history on PT if you think I “hate Republicans”. That governor’s position on criminal justice reform is no different than a democrats. A spade is a spade wether you like it or not.
Here is what he pushed for in his 2 bills once he got elected
And here he is again opposing the GOP led legislature on the recently passed Truth in Sentencing Bill that was passed with a veto proof majority by Republicans
Tell me, what’s the difference in Bill Lee’s criminal justice positions vs a democrats position?
We don’t need limp wristed Republicans playing footsie with the abolish prisons crowd. We need law and order that keeps repeat violent offenders off the streets, for good.

quote:
One of the new laws is focused on diverting offenders away from state prisons. That measure will expand the group of people eligible for recovery courts, shorten the maximum amount of time someone can be placed on probation, and prevent some people from going back to jail for technical probation violations.
The second new law will ease the requirements for people to be released on parole and will establish more support for inmates who are released from prison.
And here he is again opposing the GOP led legislature on the recently passed Truth in Sentencing Bill that was passed with a veto proof majority by Republicans
quote:
Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee once again was willing to disagree with the legislature but unwilling to go against them with a veto. This week, Lee declined to sign bills that would require some incarcerated individuals to serve 100% of their prison sentences and a law that makes it a felony to camp on all public property unless otherwise stated.

So they just figured out that this criminal did another rape in 2021.
"MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A recently tested rape kit from a case back on September 21 of 2021 has been connected to the man charged with kidnapping and killing Eliza Fletcher.
The DNA match came back the same day Fletchers body was found behind an abandoned house in South Memphis. According to Memphis police, a sexual assault report was taken on September 21, 2021.
The sexual assault kit was submitted to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation two days later. WREG reached out to the TBI to find out why it took nearly a year before a match was made to Abston-Henderson."

Wow. They got this joggers results in hours but the other one sat on the shelf for a year. That'll generate some interesting questions.

Second time violent offenders should be either executed or banished. Any violent crime committed by someone with priors should be considered leftist-sponsored domestic terrorism.

Colombia, Saudi Arabia, Myanmar? I’m not picky.

The article went on to say that the average time can be up to 40+ weeks, but that if police entities ask for cases to be expedited they can.
