Perp has been charged with:

"especially aggravated kidnapping"

quote:

When a kidnapping is committed in one of the following circumstances, it becomes especially aggravated kidnapping:

Accomplished with a deadly weapon or something that a victim would reasonably believe is a deadly weapon;

Where the victim is under the age of 13;

Committed to hold the victim for a ransom or reward;

Committed to use the victim as a shield or hostage;

or
Where the victim suffers serious bodily injury.

I know which one I'd place my bets on but keep on with the cartel/drug ransom fantasy.

And how many times have you seen it lead to the brutal kidnap and murder of a wife and mother of a rich family?

I'm not saying it's the exact same, but the Murdaugh family story seems pretty crazy. A very wealthy family and the father is stealing millions anyways.

quote:

The case took another turn on Sept. 7, 2021, when PEOPLE reported that members of Alex's law firm had confronted him about missing money on Sept. 3 before notifying law enforcement and the South Carolina Bar Association, The Island Packet reported. A source told the outlet that more than $1 million was missing and after being confronted, Alex told his lawyer that he would be resigning.

The next day, Alex was shot, and members of his law firm went to the scene to report details of the missing money to authorities.

"This is disappointing news for all of us," PMPED said in a statement obtained by the Island Packet, noting that the firm had cut all ties with Murdaugh. "Rest assured that our firm will deal with this in a straightforward manner. There's no place in our firm for such behavior."

Attorney Jim Griffin told PEOPLE in a statement that "Alex resigned from the firm after being accused of diverting lawyer fees. These allegations prompted him to confront his dependency and he voluntarily checked into an in-patient substance abuse rehab facility after being discharged from the hospital Monday."

On Sept. 8, Alex's law license was temporarily suspended by the South Carolina Supreme Court.

Less than one week later, on Sept. 13, the South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division announced that it opened an investigation into allegations that Alex stole funds from his law fiirm.

Now compare all those zero stories you can think of and now think of how many stories you can think of that a random thug with an extensive tap sheet commits murder

A kidnapping of a woman from a prominent family isn't common to begin with, and maybe you should be a little open minded when determining the cause.

Hiring a low-level thug to do some dirty work for a more prominent figure to keep his hands clean is a tale as old as time.

I'm not saying that's what DID happen, but it's certainly conceivable given how unprecented such a kidnapping is.

Unprecedented events usually require unprecented circumstances preceding them.

***I'm not saying any of that is true in this case. This could be a totally random kidnapping, but it's also a very unusual one and the press coverage indicates that.

Alot of thought went into that post. None of which has anything to do with what happened here.

I think he spent 20 years in jail for the first kidnapping.

While we all can certainly sympathize with the family going through this, but you can blame the multitudes of previous husbands killing wives and trying to cover it up.
More often it IS the husband involved, thus why so many are quick to judge. And I always do feel extra bad for those that are wrongfully accused.

She's from a very prominent family. And she runs the same route at the same time every morning. So it's likely a premeditated crime.

I immediately thought they saw her before and staked out her run a couple of times.

Not really.

I copy and pasted that info from the article. Takes a few clicks.

Absolutely, the husband would be a prime suspect in a case like this if we didn’t have surveillance video showing the black predator who previously kidnapped someone hunting her down in the middle of the night

Or, and I know this is super crazy and out of left field, it’s just people posting on a message board because they are bored on a Sunday morning. I know it’s hard for you because you “knew” Eliza, but can you not just calm down a little bit and let people post on the fricking internet without freaking out about someone opining on a subject you don’t want them to opine on?

Not to mention the fantasies people create in their head.

The Gabby Petito thread on the OT was a massive embarrassment.
this is why we'll never come together as a country. These people willingly ignore common sense.

There is nothing wrong with assuming this and thinking it in the beginning. It’s logical and following the statistics

But taking that and coming up with wild theories about the nanny and everything else is more than that, and then still hanging onto the husband at this point is just embarassing

This is just horrific, all of it. She was very friendly. The whole thing is just awful. Her kids are young enough they will only have faint memories.

Superficial, materialistic, no meaning in their life at all.

Usually goes back to childhood. Probably violence, drugs, etc.

One of her kids is in my nephew’s class. One of the first things I thought of was would my own boys remember their mom if something like this happened. Total nightmare, I don’t even know what her husband tells them while she’s missing

Imagine you're a wealthy, young woman who probably doesn't have to work for the rest of your life but you do anyway. Teaching young kids, but you enjoy fitness so you wake up before dawn to exercise and still make it to your job on time. Then you get kidnapped and murdered by a worthless sack of shite who's spent most of his life in prison for a previous kidnapping. If justice truly existed this guy would've gotten a bullet through his head over some gang beef years ago so he couldn't hurt anyone else.

Only because people like you can't understand non-linear discussions and you require black/white thinking (and lots of assumptions).

I mean if they're arrested a guy and she hasn't been found, it's not looking good. Add in searching a wooded area?
