No doubt. There should be rules that if a casino claims malfunction on a jackpot, the machine must be quarantined. Hell, they could have loaded it into a box truck and dumped it into the pacific.

The casino should not have unfettered custody of the machine after pulling bullshite like this.

It's really easy to not get burned by a casino, just own it.

Exactly. Show me the news article where someone lost but the casino said, hold on now, our machine fricked up. You actually won a big jackpot if the machine had not malfunctioned. Here is your pile of cash.

I'd wager $3 it has NEVER HAPPENED.

Correct. How would you ever have known it would have been a winner?

It probably had a $5000 or so max win if you were max betting and she thinks she won 8 million?
Assuming the wan was telling the truth, then the casino could have easily pointed that out rather than taking away the machine.

Or even if the machine "malfunctioned," they could invest in a machine that didn't make such egregious errors.

Of course, none of this supports the any of the random conjecture you posted.

well that's the risk that they should be responsible for..

what if it's malfunctioning and no one is winning because of that? they are keeping their money..

they should absolutely honor it, period.. or else not have any machine related gambling devices..

If it had a max $5000 win , why not give her $800 instead of $80. If they are using the 80 from the beginning of 8,000,0000 seems they would go to the closest base 10 number beginning with 80 below $5,000. Seems some smooth talking would have persuaded them to add a 0 to the payout.

What a bunch of dickheads. $80. That's 8 hands at Blackjack (if that). I've been comped hotel rooms worth much more than that. They deserve to be sued into an oblivion. It's the equivalent of winning free fries at McDonalds and only be given a grain of salt in return. I smell a huge lawsuit. Hope she gets every dime owned to her and the tribesmen go broke.

Wait, she put $100 in, and as a consolation prize she didn't even get all of her money back?

So they stole $20 from her? Wow. I hope she runs those tribesmen out of business and takes the reservation for herself. frick em over this. Are we sure these casinos are not run by Jews from Nazi cartoons?

There's a full story with both sides represented out there somewhere

What's the other side? That this woman is a master hacker and somehow hacked into a slot machine to steal some money from the innocent Indians? But the innocent Indians then take the machine away saying "This never happens". Of course it doesn't. If that was a regular occurrence, they'd be on meth like their cousins in Alaska.

Get insurance

This should be the default. A 'malfunction' like that should be more improbable than hitting the jackpot itself, of elst they are not running a fair game.

I have heard of this happening a lot. bullshite that they are allowed to get away with it. It could cause a heart attack when you tell some old geezer who is more excited than at any time in their lives that it's all a joke - you get nuttin.

They should sue for mental abuse and ask for 500 million

This has happened several times at Mississippi casinos as well so the Indian part has nothing to do with it.
