You are incorrect, this is a legitimate thing. We have taken in dogs due to the owner dying, and I can tell you that more often than not, those dogs are affected, sometimes beyond repair.
If my wife is gone for the weekend, our dogs just stare at the door waiting for her, even if the rest of us are home.
Did you not read "Where the Red Fern Grows" as a kid? Have you no soul?

That's sad. Hope she was the one that kicked off the Heathrow fire, taking out the power.

Science experiment
Take a fish that you feed every day, and a dog that you feed everyday.
Disappear, and have another random person start feeding them. Does the fish enter a state of depression? How about the dog?
Disregarding the life of intelligent animals is a sign of sociapathic tendencies.
Unless we're talking pigs. I'm a pretty big fan of swine, being a native son of LA.....

Quite the contrarian you are. I bet you're a joy at parties.

If you died and the dog was not fed and got hungry enough he would eat your arse.
Never forget their attachment to you is because you provide easy access to food and shelter. They don’t give shite about you otherwise. They are still just animals.

I'm sure in times of famine, people never resorted to such things.
There's a wide range between animal cruelty and treating dogs like people.

Kristi Noem is lobbying Trump to pardon this lady.

It couldn't be more fitting the Low IQ of:
1st, not removing the fricking dog collar with your fricking name on it easily linking the crime to you
2nd, taking 0 preparation steps beforehand to ensure that the dog would get on board legally, and instead just winging it expecting it to go your way
Couldn't be more typical.

I said I was against animal cruelty. But animals are not human and should not be treated as such.
Stalin killed 9 million people.
Mao killed 40 million people.
Hitler killed 11 million people.
Stalin loved cats. Mao and Hitler loved dogs. All three valued animal life over human life. They preferred dogs over people. All three were psychopaths.
Being a dog worshipper does not make you a great person.

should put her down the exact same way.

You are incorrect.
Ive seen this one grieve terribly, twice.
It's true dogs can't "reason " to our level, but they certainly have feelings for their pack. Obviously, they take on our habits and behaviors from being with us for many years, and certainly feel a sense of loss if one of us goes "away".
That said, owning a dog isn't for everyone. It takes a level of maturity and the ability to embrace responsibility, and a sense to enrich their life and yours.

How about this...If you think there's a chance you might need to drown your pet one day, just don't get a pet. And maybe eat a bullet.

Its Ok to have a little compassion for animals. Doesn't mean they are the equivalent of a human being.

but the manner in which one does it should be. Drowning it is by no means "humane" so your just sound like an idiot who is trying way too hard.

I agree with your overall point but I'll point out that there are even fish that will behave the way you're saying. In college I had a lionfish that it took months to teach how to eat from my hand. I left for a month or so over the summer and my brother was in charge of feeding him. The fish never got over my leaving and wouldn't eat from my brother. He kept that up until he croaked before I got back.
Yes animals are property but they deserve respect. Anyone that would be cruel to an animal would be cruel to a human as well.
