WMPD: 'Illegal immigrant' accused of sex with minor

A man reportedly living in the United States illegally is facing multiple charges after allegedly having sex with a 14-year-old girl.

According to an arrest affidavit for Eliezer Merino, age 24, officers with the West Monroe Police Department were dispatched to Montgomery Avenue on Aug. 17 regarding a sex crime.

"It was later discovered that Eliezer is an illegal immigrant and has been deported from the United States twice (2012 and 2013)," the arrest report states.

The parents of the teen told officers they believed an "illegal immigrant" was sexting and having sex with their 14-year-old daughter, the report continues..

A detective assigned to the case learned on Monday that Merino picked up the girl at her home on Sunday, and she had not been in touch with her parents since that date.

The teen was found on Thursday and interviewed. Per the affidavit, she said she did have sex with Merino, and they discussed sex via text messages and with pictures multiple times.

Officers learned Merino lived at Bailey Street in West Monroe and went to his home.

Multiple items of the teen's clothing, including undergarments and school books, were found in the home along with a small bag of marijuana according to arrest reports.

The affidavit also states Merino said he had sex with the teen and texted her discussing sex and sending photos. He reportedly said the marijuana at his home belonged to him.

Merino is accused of three counts of felony carnal knowledge of a juvenile, computer-aided solicitation of a minor, first offense possession of a controlled dangerous substance and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
