Kids will still be able to tell if they are abused,
This isn’t difficult, we can be against John the kindergarten teacher about talking about Rim jobbing his boyfriend Pete, but think the bill missed the mark on allowing parents to opt out of any and all services provided by actual guidance counselor experts

I discussed homosexuality with both of my kids when they were in elementary school when a kid in my daughter’s 1st grade class had 2 moms. They both shrugged their shoulders and moved on with their life.
That’s exactly what parents who support this bill want. Instead of some teacher justifying their own lifestyle choices by sharing inappropriate examples and teaching gender/ sexual identity - parents want the right to have these conversations with their children in the privacy of their own homes based on their values. And i still have no idea why you would oppose that parental right, when here you are providing an example of it.
Ohh btw, polling shows the bill is wildly popular with parents from every political affiliation, race, and background. You don’t have to like it.

Abuse has absolutely zero to do with sexuality discussions. I think it's quite the stretch to argue abuse is going to get overlooked because a teacher can't talk about their sexuality to a bunch of children.

My guess is that Belle is not inclined to do that but that she has loyalty to her profession, so she's similarly not inclined to come in here and acknowledge for us how absolutely warped and counterproductive a large contingent of the mental health community has become.

Literally, how can this be argued against?

At my extremely conservative Catholic school it was mandatory once a quarter we spoke to the guidance counselor.

Important to note that the backlash among elites/media, however, has nothing to do with this practical consideration.

So don’t mention it. It bans the discussion of sexual identify. Don’t announce to K-3 that you’re gay. If you must discuss what you did this weekend, say partner or spouse.
I remember all of the times my K-3rd grade teachers talked about their sexual identity and life outside of school.
It was fricking zero.

You and Penrod are neck and neck for the dumbest posters that think they are intelligent on this website.
What, specifically, can parents opt out of that prevents a kid from telling anyone they are being abused?

And?
The bill allows parents to opt their child out of speaking to a guidance counselor all together. Who do you think kids generally report their abuse to?

Oh, the irony of that statement when it comes to you Roger. Your middle name is histrionics anytime someone disagrees with you or points out a flaw in your argument.

I understand, but it's also a theoretical issue that likely won't come to fruition in practice. Teachers are openly talking about defying the law to talk about homosexuality with 7 year olds, but they're going to follow it to the letter on abuse?

I agree with this. Its just blind loyalty, however which is shitty. Attachment to groups seems to be where humans run askew (My love for LSU football in the 90's for example) When people become that wrapped in their group identity, they are one and the same. Its just a classic hive mind.

Im for this bill but I do think there should be an anti-bullying bill to go along with it to be taught in all classrooms.
