that the attention seeking behavior associated with SEAL Team 6/DEVGRU does not infect and harm Delta as a whole.

I know that’s random, but the SEALs seem to have really taken a self inflicted hit since the OBL raid.

I’d hate to see the same for their counterparts in the Army.

This was very different. The day Bin Laden was killed was damn near a Holiday. People celebrated, it was all over the news world wide.

I’m fairly certain a vast majority of Americans don’t know who this was that was killed nor that he even died.

Leadership starts from the top.

If the top level commanders don’t start writing books and cashing in, the operators won’t.

While that is probably largely true, Delta captured Saddam and that was not really known for years. Credit was initially given to the Ranger Battalions with no mention of Delta.

In the present instance, Delta’s name is popping up everywhere.

I'd hate to see the DF go all Seal team 6 and start shelling out books like a Harlequin Romance series

Who used to run Spec Ops? McRaven and he was a SEAL; now you know why they were infected.

There's an old saying that says "It's amazing what can get accomplished when nobody cares who gets the credit".

This is the last thing al-Baghdadi saw before running into his tunnel:

Anyone that works in the SOF community (especially tier 1) could tell who it was that captured Saddam.

I also think Delta is a very long way away from getting the SEALS level of notoriety. Maybe Chuck Norris can make another movie and change that, but I know multiple guys that joined the Navy to try and be a SEAL because they wanted to be the best. I don’t know anyone that joined the Army to specifically be Delta.

I gotta ask, what’s wrong with writing a book if you don’t share anything classified? How much of our military history would we not know about if no one was allowed to tell any stories?

This is the third leader In a row of ISI/ISIS that Delta has gotten. I don’t see why it’d be any different than when they got Zarqawi and al Baghdadi the First.

The team that captured him consisted of several different agencies. It may have been Deltas that found him that day. I know the team put together to hunt him and that took responsibility for capturing him consisted of CIA, Seals, Delta Force, and OGA. Probably others too that I missed.

Al Baghdadi died a coward. Detonated a suicide vest when cornered and killed 3 of his own kids in the process. He was cornered like a rat. It would’ve been nice to hear he was handed over to the Kurds and let the Kurds execute him slowly for gassing them.
