Growing up, I stayed with my grandmother a good bit. Her house had old galvanized plumbing. Sometimes, during a storm, we would hear/see arcing under the sink in the bathroom. She had one of those old style wall mount porcelain sinks where some of the plumbing was exposed. That shite scary! And she never let me shower during a storm.

Nowadays, I don't care too much. I won't shower during a really bad storm, but just some lightning doesn't bother me.

We try to hurry up and get baths/showers done before the storm hits so that we don’t get stuck in the shower and the lights go out.

Back in the day when all plumbing was copper or some kind of metal it would make sense to not be in the shower during a lightning storm. But with plumbing today being pvc, it’s kinda dumb

I have always heard there is a certain amount of danger in taking a shower while it is lightning. I have no idea whether it is true or not, but since a lightning storm typicallly lasts only ten minutes or so, I figure I’m better off avoiding the risk all together.

people still use copper. And it doesn’t matter as long as it is grounded

This is a question Arkansas siblings breathlessly ask of each other.

I have been known to storm during an electrical shower.

As long as your toaster is not on ceramic countertop and you don't have an extension cord going to it, you'll be fine.

I felt a little tingle from lightning while showering in a shitty rent house in Ruston back in my school daze once.

This makes the unwarranted assumption that I actually shower.

Concur

The only time I believe in "lightening outside" is during the fall, when tree's are losing their leaves. I would imagine, while it is but a few lbs at max, I guess it would be considered lightening..

so now I hope you all feel more "enlightened"
