This is the part I'm not grasping here. I'm not saying either Will Smith or Chris Rock or The Oscars would not be above staging some event...but this one?
What exactly is the thought process that leads any of the three to conclude that A) Insulting Smith's wife about a medical condition B) Smith walking on stage and hitting him in front of millions of views world wide and then screaming frick at him at the top of his lungs several times and C) having the whole thing end abruptly and awkwardly which apparently spilled over into the commercial break where other celebrities "consoled" Smith in his seat would be good for The Oscars or Rock/Smith?
Chris Rock is a Top 10 Stand up...surely if asked he could have come up with a better bit than that, right? One that would not made himself AND Will Smith look like total idiots?
In the end, what is in it for Rock and Smith here is this was staged as it played out? What do wither of them gain personally?

Exactly. Will and Jada has been getting flamed over the internet for the past few years for a myriad of reasons. So when Chris, a guy who Will already doesn't like said something that made Jada upset, Will flipped out and let his pent up emotion out.
Not to mention Jada publicly said she wanted 2Pac over Will, because Pac was tougher and more of a man. Looks like Will is trying to show he can be "hard" as well.
