Rock didn't go off the cuff, the lines were scripted, Smith wasn't oblivious.
They've gotten bad pub lately about the open marriage thing, this is just for show.

I think the best argument for it being real (it's not) is Will "snaps" after Chris says "Cmon, that was a nice one" therefore insinuating other, more dirty, unapproved jokes. That MIGHT have set him off to has his own "Ima let you finish" moment

You really think there is even a contingency for the "security" at something like this to intervene between a best actor nominee and the host - in something for which they have no idea if it is a goof or not?
I love people acting like the hired cops there should have leapt into action immediately and DONE SOMETHING.
I honestly still have no idea if it was a goof or not (I'm not sure I care enough to draw a hard line here like so many), but I certainly don't think the fact that "security" didn't immediately tackle Smith has any bearing on that or not.

No, a tackle is not believable. But a walk over to his seat and asking him to leave politely during a commercial break is more
likely and expected (if this were actually real)
