Makes no difference if fake or real

did I say that? I just said, and accurately so, that it is the DA that ultimately makes that call, irregardless of what the "victim's" wishes are if they feel strongly enough that this should be prosecuted

Alec Baldwin killed someone and he's in interviews blaming anyone else

Alec Baldwin shooting someone in the desert on a film set is not the same as a blatant assault at an awards ceremony on national TV.

There is security there for keeping the peace and making sure people stay in line. Actors are not exempt from that.

Aubrey Plaza was ejected from the MTV movie awards from getting up on stage and trying to take an award from Will Ferrel.

You really think Will Smith could bitch-slap someone live and not suffer the same consequence if it wasn’t scripted?

Y’all are unbelievable

ETA: and before y’all start bitching…I’m not defending Baldwin. That fricker belongs in jail. But in no way can you compare these two incidents

I don't dispute that. My reply was more for the "OMG he assaulted a guy on live TV and got away with it" loons.

Yeah so staged that people are trying to calm him down during a commercial break. True commitment huh?
These people are actors - and the best in the world at acting

They can make you believe anything. It was definitely staged and they had to make it appear "real" by having Smith act a fool after he sat down, being consoled by his fellow actors and crying on stage.

I guess my answer would be yes, he could, and suffer no consequences?

Huh? You're arguing that Will assaulted someone on live Tv and is getting away with it, as if the slap wad that big a deal or that celebs don't get away with crimes every fricking day.

Agree, not staged. Watch the slow motion clip that BRIllini posted - specifically, Smith's feet. He stands up on the balls of his feet and shifts his weight hard enough to have his right foot slip. If that was staged, he was trying to generate some power with the slap.

Plus, I agree with a couple points already made...one, why wait until that point in the broadcast? And two, make Smith's dialog safe for broadcast. All the bleeping accomplished was to confuse the (US) audience.

It's amazing some of you think Chris rock would agree to get bitch slapped on live television and cussed out for Oscar ratings

It’s even more amazing that some posters believe that the Smiths would agree to be ridiculed on the biggest night of Will’s life, especially over a medical disorder. That family are the most narcissistic and petty family in all of Hollywood. Plus Chris and Will have openly hated one another for decades, so it makes 0 sense that this was scripted.
