Of course this state has problems. That’s nothing new
I’m not going anywhere. I choose to live here and I’m quite comfortable.
If you choose to leave, I don’t blame you. Hope wherever you end up makes you happy. I’m not searching for happiness. I have it right here where I am. I have everything I need

Honestly if we leave it will be because I'd prefer a little more temperate climate and nicer terrain.
My wife has already said that she won't move (unless we have to for work purposes) while my daughter is in school. She's from Alabama and she loves Louisiana. I have my doubts that I'll ever convince her to leave

For how much money LA has. It’s sad to see results. I moved to a state without oil and gas and schools are better-not even close, I’ll even include infrastructure.

I think Louisiana had a peak around 2013 or so (whenever oil was its highest), and will be trending downward for a few decades. A demographic tidal wave is incoming too.

An intelligent person in Louisiana with a college degree and a good work ethic is like an NBA player in the European league. In other states you're just average. But in Louisiana you're an all-star who sets scoring records and can command a higher salary than the rest of the team.
I make about just as much money in BR as I would in Houston, Raleigh or Dallas. I know because I've had job offers in each of those cities during my career and they've all been kind of meh from a salary perspective. My wife nixed them all.
We want you to uproot your family and move 4-13 hrs away for a 10-15% pay increase with double the housing costs. Nah I'm good

Maybe not, but I'm going to make it better in any way I can.

BR area will be stable with LSU, state gov, and the plants, but BR will never become a desirable city as long as people like Gravy have influence in City Hall.
This is true but politics change and we can outlast one term of a shitty mayor. The key is one term.
We are all still around after 8 years of Obama.

No, it's only going to get worse.
It is the a-hole of America, literally and figuratively.

Just delaying the inevitable. It’s just too far gone, and the one thing I’ve seen transpire in my half century observing this state is it keeps getting nastier, trashier, and more dilapidated at every passing year. It’s so far from the place I grew up in it’s not even funny anymore. Truth is, not enough people care and so it’s discouraging at best and depressing in reality so everyone focuses on something else. Litter as far as the eye can see? Who cares, put on another pot of red beans. Interstates and surface streets in disrepair and semi functioning cluster fricks? How bout them Saints. Murder state? Festival time. STD capital? Killing the trout this year. School systems at the bottom in the country? Crawfish season.
Nobody really wants to face it, and I hear ya loud and clear, but it is what it is, and you have to call it what it is. Thing is, I’d. venture to say that most people feel trapped because of family, job, and commitments, and so it’s the only way they can deal. For others it’s familiar, and all they’ve ever known, and they’d never even dream of leaving it. Those are the people who will take it the worst when the reality really sets in what’s become of their state.

You haven't traveled the country extensively if you think Louisiana is the worst place. Go spend a week in Vineland, NJ or Ripley, WV and get back to me. There are hundreds of places I'd take BR, Nola, Lafayette over.

My daughter threw a gum wrapper out of my truck window on the way home from her track championships tonight. I happened to see it and pulled over and told her to find the damn wrapper or pick up 3 pieces of trash on her way back. Don't blame me. She'll never do it again

Not blaming you, and well played BTW. Very nice.

I told her that only trashy people litter and she couldn't find the wrapper. She came back with a Natty can, a Rite Aid bag and a Milky Way wrapper. I won't put up with that shite

As of a couple weeks ago I’m out. SO took a job offer in Arizona.

If Louisiana ever stopped being shitty, would it still be Louisiana? Really? I think not.

Have family and a nice job here, but damn
You could leave. That would help.
