That's probably the biggest issue right there. Your future is being encouraged to leave the state. Western PA was in the same boat once the steel companies went out of business. It took a couple of decades for them to remake Pittsburgh into a healthcare and technology town but they've done it and now it's becoming a really cool city.
You need to find a reason for people to stay.

The political scene is an accurate reflection of the people.

I don’t see most Louisianans leaving; It’s probably the least transient state in the country. And that is an endearing thing that people are so deep rooted. If you encourage the next generation to leave them it will get worse even quicker.

Cities like Lafayette and Lake Charles may improve as they have competent leadership who are not anti-business or see their constituents as walking go fund mes.

New Orleans may improve aesthetically because of gentrification but it'll never grow like Austin, Nashville, Dallas, etc. have.

BR area will be stable with LSU, state gov, and the plants, but BR will never become a desirable city as long as people like Gravy have influence in City Hall.

something to be said there, never got it, couldn't get out and see the world fast enough, many friends let their career ambitions stop right at the front door, usually because they got married early and the wife refused to relocate beyond a five mile radius from mam's house

The govt. takes more and more from the tax base while giving less and less. The tax base is leaving for greener pastures. The poor stay behind, demanding more and more.

The good is leaving and the bad is getting worse. Will it always be this way? Hard to say but it has not hit rock bottom yet.

Left Louisiana 5 years ago for Colorado and don't regret it for a second.

You really don't realize just how screwed up Louisiana is until you leave it.
I miss my family there and the food, but I would never consider moving back.

No. Don’t over complicate the situation. It’s a simple answer.

The criminal element and welfare leeches chase good citizens out of most of the cities and public schools. Other states have this problem too but we have more than most. We have too many takers and not enough tax payers. That's one reason businesses don't stay here. That and our crooked government.

I'm not sure how you turn that around. They outbreed the middle and upper class.

Scruffy disagrees.

People talk about Chicago politics, but LA is just as bad, ISO.

Not as long as culcha is gonna culcha and baptist gonna baptist.

We have the worst of both worlds.

I love Louisiana and the culture, people, and the food. It really does have a natural beauty to it and there is no other state like it.

With that said, I spent my first 14 years there and moved away and you dont really how f*cked up it is until you leave the state.
