re: Aruba - recommendations?

Posted by PJ250R on 1/27/26 at 11:30 pm to
We went in December for the first time, stayed through Christmas. Had a blast. Nice safe island. Family of 5. It’s definitely more of a culinary island compared to most of the Caribbean. A lot of great restaurants I could recommend. We rented a Jeep, a lot of fun to explore with, hit up a different beach each day.

We stayed at The Cove. Awesome location. Private apartment in the middle of everything.

Eagle Beach was our favorite beach.

ETA:
Baby Beach worth the trip spending the day at. All beaches are nice there, we’ll save the north as it’s rocky desert. Nice to look at but not actually get in the water.

Aruba is a desert island so it rarely rains there even during the “wet” season, so you can almost count on some great days when you are there. It was pretty windy during December when we went, but I didn’t mind it’s the Caribbean and felt nice.
Appreciate it Waco, and thanks for the contact. Our first time to Napa. My wife loves Italian wine, and hopefully a future trip to Tuscany will happen, however we have spoken about Napa in the past and I will surprise her with this. With the insight I have now from you I am sure she will love it.

Already booked the Vintage. I was able to upgrade the room with a good deal they are having right now paying in advance.

I have heard back from two vineyards already - Palmaz and Jarvis, with dates booked. I am on the waiting list at Peter Michael.

I understand July is their busiest time (not sure if true), so I wanted to get ahead of this and get it planned so we don't make an excuse not to go.

She will be at the spa a lot so I was looking to see where a good hangout spot for me would be, or schedule a hike/bike morning. That Burgers and Half Bottles place looks to be a good little hang out spot to sit and chill, just not sure if they have a bar.

I have booked a hot air balloon ride which looks to be really fun.
Thanks Waco - you inspired me to book our trip in July for our 20th wedding anniversary!

....if TD existed then it would have been epic!

If not for this we lose the game.

Glove>Grand Slam. But thank you for both
They still had cars at Des Moines, we are on our way…influx of returned cars. Car smells like musty demon decon tears.

After the tanks homerun my seven year old son asked if we could go to championship game. Easiest yes I’ve ever had for him. We pulled into Omaha Around 10 last night. Just gotta find some tickets now

That’s awesome man! My son asked if we could go to Omaha, I said only if they make it to the finals.. when Tommy White hit that bomb I knew then I was in for an expensive plane ticket! :casty:

So worth it, got my boy with me going to Omaha. This is my first time as well! This is a dream come true for me. I was his age during our 90s run.

Just got to Des Moines, will know if they gave my car away and if we will be hitch hiking to Omaha.

How about an official Omaha travel thread

About to take off to Des Moines with my son, have car reservation to Omaha, but possibly no car… Will see in a few hours…

Once we get there hit up a nice pregame meal then head over to Hilton to meet up with friends.

Restaurant suggestions? Steak, burgers places. Anything else going on?

Safe travels! :geauxtigers:

Seats section 127 ..Tommy Tanks landing

Anyone know off they sell lsu mech at the game? Or just cws stuff?
I got your gas, lunch and dinner, and beverages of choice.

Catching a flight back at 5am, are Ubers pretty available in Omaha?
Looks like greyhound leaves before I land and then afternoon run is past game time.
What I meant was we may be in the same boat.

I rented a car tomorrow morning with Budget at Des Moines and they are not picking up the phone.

If by some chance I do get a car I will pack with Tiger fans going to game!
Oh man. I just rented a car there…
Yea im looking at StubHub now.

Will we be home or away for game 1?

Something so small will be a big job by hand. I would just rent a mini trackhoe and dig around it. Then you’ll have the power to lift it to the trailer. Roll it off in a pond.

ETA - great base for a basketball goal? :dunno:
I believe we are starting to see what a modern day political prisoner looks like. Whether he’s arrested or not.

Trump has literally exposed the lengths deep state will go to keep their people in.

We just planted 20 carolina sapphire cypress trees along our back fence.

I wanted blue ice cypress but couldn’t find any. These grow fuller in middle and have a beautiful color.

We lost about 9 Carolina sapphire cypress early, but now they are rooted they are doing well. Only starting year 2 though.
