So stupid.
If his people don’t want more gambling, they could ummm not go gamble.

Our politicians are pretty much the worst in America. How stupid do you have to be to turn down guaranteed revenue?

I think that's a fair timeframe

Yet the Senate unanimously voted for allowing prayer in public schools (SB253). Keep moving backwards Louisiana.

Not unless the Wire Act gets repealed. It is still in place and makes taking a sports bet using wires that cross state lines a federal crime.

They already have.
We booked Biloxi and New Orleans for our fantasy football draft specifically because of this SCOTUS case. We get together every year from the Thursday to the Sunday of opening weekend of college football. 14 of us. We've been doing it ten years now in New Orleans.
Care to guess which city just lost out on 3 days of 14 degenerates drinking, gambling, eating, and staying in hotels?
Piss on this state.

Might want to pump the breaks on this since fantasy sports are still illegal here

What is the logic behind Louisiana refusing to get on board on sports betting? So many Texas folk are going to pass right by and hit the Mississippi casinos

That sentence shows why Louisiana politicians are out of their minds.
So all the money and jobs that will go to Mississippi instead of Louisiana isn't a loss?

One of the problems was the cost to institute a tracking system, which is stupid because the state would probably make that back fairly quickly
quote:
SB266 also faced problems because the Louisiana Fiscal Office said it would cost $25 million to institute the state centralized computer system needed to track the betting. Committee Chairman Eric LaFleur, D-Ville Platte, noted that his panel has not been approving measures that would cost money, at a time when lawmakers confronting a deficit of $648 million for the budget that takes effect on July 1.

The could have easily have charged the casinos for it via the licensing fees. It's a bullshite excuse.

this, we're already looking at going there for opening weekend of college football instead of going to the game in Dallas.
its definitely a draw, the fact that a state that wants to claim its broke but wants to stick its nose up at this is asinine.

You can't use logic when dealing with those idiots

Nah bro the legislature didn’t pass any of the bills that would allow the state to set it up, and the Gov didn’t put it into the special session call so it’s going to be atleast another year if not longer.

They mentioned that in the article and gave no reason why they didn't pursue it. I think they are taking the coward, and costly, way of waiting and seeing how it will play out in other states so they won't piss off any of their bible thumping constituents

Martiny and state Sen. Greg Tarver, D-Shreveport, suggested having the casino companies cover the $25 million implementation cost. But that idea didn’t prosper.

Only if the legislature votes to allow it, which thus far, they have defeated all proposed measures to allow such.

Louisiana has already shown their arse to the rest of the country tonight by immediately speaking out against it.
(as if the rest of the country needed any further proof to why Louisiana is 10 years behind on everything)
We've actually already had a bill introduced to the legislature. With the amount of casinos here, we actually won't be far behind on this one. The casino lobby will be lining the politicians pockets to ensure it.
If anything he's calling out the state for not being ahead of the curve here, not the supreme court
