Drove US 90 from Lafayette to New Orleans. It's a LOT better than it used to be. Many of the overpasses between Laf and Morgan City are done.

Problems are going to be inner city Lafayette (obviously), Patterson, and everything from Des Allemands to the westbank expressway. They may just want to veer off and build an elevated expressway through the swamp south of the present corridor.

The new Lafayette Chamber of Commerce, One Acadiana, has made this priority #1 and there is allegedly a lot of headway being made.

Of course, government projects have never had a reputation of moving quickly here, so who knows, but I believe strongly in One Acadiana and the work they're doing.

"Pray for me, I drive on Hwy 90"was a common bumper sticker when I was a child 40 years ago, it is still relevant today.

Those "Future I49" signs are comical at this point.

This can be done. You simply need to bypass the cities . Go around Patterson and Bayou Vista . Go around Lafayette to the east. Go around Desalminds (sp?) to the north

Oh well, I guess we got something. It's better than nothing I guess. .

As well as they should. One of the biggest keys to a healthy economy is traffic infrastructure that provides convenient routes and access for businesses to get to places.

They give a pretty definitive answer right there.

That means it's gonna happen.

I've taken both routes from NOLA to Lafayette, 90, and I10 numerous times. As far as I'm concerned they take the same amount of time, and to me, the stress level is a lot lower on 90.

With that being said, 90 between Raceland and Morgan City is pretty much already interstate, so that's a pretty good chunk. And yeah, the part south out of Lafayette is going to be the tough part.

I think the next part they ought to bring up to interstate standards is from Raceland tying into 310 in Boutte.

the tolls should go back on the Crescent City Connection and on the Huey and 310 bridges to pay for completion of I-49 from the elevated West Bank Expressway to Raceland...then improve the roadway from the Huey to I-10...

the Earhart Expressway could be a good evacuation feeder to the Huey and go I-49 to Lafayette and up to Alexandria...

Earhart expressway should have connected with other highways/interstate. It basically just starts and stops in neighborhoods.

How much time would I49 shave from the current Lafayette to NO drive time?

I-49 from Blanchard to Arkansas is finished they just have to link I-49 south of I-20 to just north of Blanchard and they will be finished.

I hope not. Traffic from Opelousas to Shreveport will be OOC.

This. Lafayette has a long way to go. The other Parishes have built overpasses but Lafayette is still a clusterfrick!

Should have been built 25 years ago. I'm talking all of I-49.

It's a factor in why Arkansas hasn't made recruiting inroads into Louisiana until recently.
