As of right now it's hard to tell what November will be like. I am optimistic that it will at least be back to some semblance of normal for residents, but tourism is definitely going to take a hit for a while.
The hospitals here are not really equipped for major infectious disease outbreaks and major population areas like Tokyo and Osaka seem to be having trouble with space and adequate medical personnel. Japan does have fewer cases than most other big countries, just hitting 10k in the last day or so. If the spread can be stemmed now, we could see a quick recovery, but only time will tell.

Pretty basic Tokyo/Kyoto/Nara itinerary. Bringing a youngin.
Got some biz class flights on ANA with miles and booked the new Park Hyatt Kyoto with points too, so I'll be pretty bummed.

He'll be right at two. (I know I know)
He did ok in Hawaii in December. Flight was actually the easy part.
If the choice is he goes or nothing I'll go and change my expectations. Though, the wife is cool with me doing some bars after he's in bed.

I made it simple with 5 days in Tokyo and 5 in Kyoto. So I was going to day trip down to Nara.

If you were spending more than one night in Nara, we were going to have a conversation
Himeji is another easy day trip from Kyoto, not that you will have come close to running out of things to do in Kyoto in the time you have. Nikko can be done as a day trip from from Tokyo, but it’s worth at least an overnight. Incredible place.
