Doesnt accept plastic bags either

Back in the day, you returned the empty bottles to the store you bought them from. That was the deposit for the next bottles you bought. The delivery guy would pick up the empties and return to the bottling plant

All the extra fuel burned for additional weight per bottle and recycling process has costs to be factored in as well.

Why? All the greenie dipshits never factor in things like brake dust emissions for electrical cars, the hazmat considerations of lithium production/disposal for batteries, the waste disposal of solar panels (not to mention the green space elimination/animal habitat destruction by solar “farms”) or ecological impact of windmill sites. According to them, these things are nothing but positive and solve our energy needs magically.

know they recycle the plastics now,

I seem to remember a study that recycling plastics is an extremely inefficient process. It takes less energy to manufacture new plastic.

They put items in a recycling bin, that is then usually brought to a dump or sold to another country to dump.

Yeah the vast majority of plastic put into recycling bins or recycling centers will get tossed out. Most of it is contaminated, and a lot of plastic is just not profitable to try and recycle. Almost all of it ends up in dumps, oceans, or to be burned for fuel.

Interesting you bring that up. You can't buy a new Camaro SS 1LE in California because the brake pads are considered hazardous.

That was my side hussle back when I was a kid. I'd go to the all new house construction sites in my neighborhood and pick up all the coke bottles. My mom would take me to the store once a week to turn them in for the deposit. Construction workers drank a lot of cokes. I'd make a pretty decent amount as a 10 or 11 year old kid from doing that.

Recycled plastic is also structurally weaker than new plastic.

The whole thing is a scam.

I agree.

cost the consumer more for deposit, but it will give the bums something to do.

When I was in high school, there were still a couple stores that had the glass bottles with deposit. I could walk up to one of them and always find enough bottles on the way there to cash in and pay for my drink.

Also, some states have deposits on the plastic bottles. Iowas does for sure anyway, not sure if any others do but I'm sure there are.

Green if you actually return and reuse bottles

Which nobody will do of course

When I was a kid I remember having to bring the bottles back to the store. They need to bring back return deposit. If it was .25 a bottle you would never have anyone ever throwing them away.

I remember when they introduced those crap 20 Oz bottles. Tasted much better out of a glass bottle.
