That means it jumped around here and is heading East toward Longville

Thousand and thousands of acres of timberland between Singer and Hwy 171 in Longville to feed it

I thought for sure the south winds would come back around tonight but it’s forecasted NNW the rest of the night. Not good for Longville

NNW

NNW would push it to the South side of DeRidder along 27 by Ball Rd. The sewer/wastewater treatment facility for DeRidder is on Ball Rd. Could shut down the whole town if it gets messed up.

The update I saw said the fire was rapidly heading East which would be Longville

Wouldn’t a NNW wind push it towards Longville?

I think it is more westerly component of the wind right now causing problems. There's really not any stations right through there to show what the wind is currently doing, but just to the south it is out of the WSW at around 10mph. Farther north it is out of the NNE at 5mph.

I think there may be a bit of a remnant boundary that lifted north, which is what helped fire those showers/storms in and around BR earlier, that has contributed to the wind shift and slight uptick in speed.

Thanks for all the information/updates. Better informed on here than by the local news.

Update as of this morning?

Truthfully I live in SELA, and traveled to Lake Charles for work yesterday. Once I got into Jennings I was like wtf… then only got worse.

Wondering how the air quality is today in Lake Charles and If it improved any or only got worse?

Not as bad as yesterday. Smelled it as soon as I walked out the door yesterday, but didn't notice it this morning

Just got a message from my aunt that lives in Singer. They live just a couple miles east of Hwy 27 off Hwy 110 going towards Longville on Beehive Loop.

She says they have everything important packed up in the truck and are ready to get out of there if need be… Says the fires are only about a mile away from where they live.

Praying for their safety.

Sounds like it need be. Why wait? Go hang at the casino for the weekend and see what happens. No reason to sit around and chance getting jumped by the fire.

We just spoke with Sheriff Mark Herford with a Beauregard Parish sheriffs office, and he said the following: ?“We lost a little ground last night b/c the fire jumped Hwy 27 last night. Helicopters and the planes are headed back early this morning. The mandatory evacuation is still in place. Also, we have another fire on Tommy Campbell Road on the east side of the parish. I don’t have enough details to speak about it yet.”

There is apparently another fire in Dry Creek which as you know is also thousands of acres of timberland.

There was one in between Ragley and Dequincy yesterday in all of that timberland on Hwy 12 but they got it under control pretty quickly. Resources have to be scarce right now in Beauregard parish.

With all the rice being cut, I’m surprised there haven’t been any combines catch a field on fire.
