Yep. Then they will hop in their car and talk on the cell phone as they drive to the store to buy more cigarettes, leaving the burning trash unattended.

That's called FREEDOM, son, and if you don't like it, maybe you can go move to NAZI GERMANY.

Just kidding. Yep. We are surrounded and outnumbered by selfish morons.

Or you can be a complete piece of shite trying to gain a laugh on social media.

PRESS RELEASE
August 23rd, 2023

Last night, August 22nd, 2023, DRPD received a call from a concerned motorist of a vehicle whose occupant has just thrown some burning paper out the window on Shirley Street. Officers responded to the area and found paper that in fact had been burned, but had not caught anything else on fire. The license plate had been reported in the initial call and the investigation led to the arrest of Dionte T. Heath, 28 of DeRidder. Heath was arrested this afternoon for Criminal Mischief and Open Burning (City Ordinance) with bonds to be set.

Due to the recent lack of rain and high temperatures leaving extremely dry conditions in our area, there will be a zero tolerance for anyone burning either by intent or negligence and putting others’ lives or property in danger.

I know this isn’t very close to the area that’s on fire, at this point, it’s principle

State police posted this link. I had no idea there were that many fires out west. What's happening here is terrible, and I've been worried sick about my relatives in the Singer area, but this map gives some perspective as to why this isn't national news

Simmer down, there, Mr. "I have the emotional maturity of a 12 year old girl".

I live near Fort Johnson and there are fires fairly close to my residence. I'm not in this thread as a dis-interested party.

Hats off to the folks fighting the fires. They are doing a great job.

People are dumb as shite.

I don't even want to grill right now for risk of an ember blowing off the pit and starting a fire.

There was a story on the news this morning about a landowner in Church Point who'd hired a contractor to clear some land. I believe the report said it was the 4th time the fire department had gone out to put out massive fires the contractor had started burning tree piles. The landowner was only issued a warning but agreed that he'll ask them to stop. Thanks, I guess.

You’re right. It was perfectly acceptable that a grown man to just light paper on fire and throw it out the window for laughs. Especially in these conditions.

I’m calm now. I don’t know what I was thinking. I’m glad you were here to justify his actions. Again, thanks for being here.

A nice tropical depression to come thru and dump some rain on the entire gulf coast would be nice right about now.

Beauregard Parish Sheriffs office reported that the Tiger Island Fire (fire around Merryville) containment has gone from 85% down to 50%. The fire has gone north and east of Merryville (away for now) but even with the winds low they keep changing making it hard to get a handle on the fire

Some fellas with planted pines hopefully had insurance. Let it grow back natural and pocket the money. Win win for landowners and wildlife.

East is where my grandparents and a lot of my family are out in Grabow. Went from worrying about my sister's place to theirs now.

Pirates Cove at Toledo is also apparently on fire

I would lol if the firemen just sprayed those people right in the face.
