Then at what point do you call in more support and resources? It’s not insignificant to those residents who are losing their homes.
They're throwing a lot at it. Looking at satellite, that's just a terrible area for a fire to get a hold.

I don’t know. There are limited forest firefighting resources in the country and nearly all of those are base in the western US. And most of those are civilian assets that work on a contract basis for the USFS or for specific states. I doubt Louisiana has any contracts for those assets and it takes time for the USFS to move assets. And even if they wanted to, moving those assets takes them away from more fire prone areas in the west.
I think we’re kinda on our own for this one.

Hope home and things are ok but family and pets especially.

There are assets from Texas on the ground there for sure.

No doubt. Not sure what can be done. Just a terrible situation

Yeah it’s really just an unfortunate area the first responders have done everything they can I’m confident. Theres only so much resources can do in a situation like this

You push lines like hell through the night, backfire off areas where you can and prepare for tomorrow

Another thing that can happen is if the smoke becomes too think the air assets aren't as effective. There's a point where these things get so large and out of control that the teams will simply concede ground and attempt containment. Wildfires are a beast to handle.

Radar looks like the smoke plume has moved North and East of Merryville

Yeah, every bit of the effort has been to try to keep it contained between the two highways. It jumped one or both today. Look like Singer got some help from the winds, but that just pushed it back toward Merryville into an area that hasn't burned.

Wind up that way is still lightly blowing out of the SSE. It may shift around more northerly later, it already has to the south of there. There's a lot of open land NE of town. If they can keep it off of the road it could burn a while without much threat. Wind helps them with that right now.

Winds are supposed to fluctuate from north to south back and forth the next couple days not sure if that will help or hurt

All tankers were pulled around 3 for fire in texas. Then wind picked up

Since they named it it is now on Google Maps. They do a decent job with updating wildfire info on there. If it doesn't show up, you can just search "wildfires" and it will show you all the active fires around that have been logged.
Also, swipe up on the name part at the bottom and it shows you a news feed about the fire.

Thanks man. I guess we'll find out what's left of merryville tomorrow

Mandatory evac for the Junction community. Winds now out of the due south should be helping to keep it away from Merryville, or at least maybe not making the run that it was.

Maybe? I don't know. It may be a layer you can turn on.

The blue is a rough outline of the mandatory evacs that have been ordered. It sounds like the fire is pushing where the orange is.

Hopefully it doesn’t jump 190 and they can keep it contained where it’s at for tonight there’s quite a bit of houses on the north side of 190
