The risk vs reward game with her is a bit wonky. Y'all need to have a serious discussion about her decisions in this regard.

Hear me out.
Get a credit card that has a low max limit. Don’t use the debit card for anything and keep it at home.
Just use the credit card and pay it off as the charges show.
The credit card is not real money so if that gets hacked, that’s the bank’s money, not yours

As long as the debit card has a Visa or MasterCard logo then there's zero liability for the customer. That being said the money is being taken from the checking account. Correct...better to use a credit card
