She didn't know there was a threat until the pipe unexpectedly hit her. The human response is to react and grab for the area hit or where the pain is coming from. Not "I just got clobbered by something and my head hurts, but I'm gonna keep shooting gas and turn it toward where I think the hit came from".
Imagine you're walking down the street and a branch falls and hits you in the head. Is your immediate reaction to turn and start swinging, or to grab where you got hit with both hands and turn to see what happened? Look at people who get shot, even if they're holding a gun the immediate reaction is to grab where they got shot.

I don't know the layout of BR, but i live in the Jxn, MS metro. My family knows never to stop in the city of Jxn, and to do all their business in the suburbs. Are there not nice suburbs around BR to live and do business in?

I think it's a ruse. Jody actually bashed her head into the headboard too many times and she had to find away to explain to you why her had hurt. So, she grabbed the kids made a mess at RaceTrac and says she got hit on head with pipe when she actually got piped elsewhere.

I’ve been driving by that area at different times. She only has gone once around that area since then. We did see something going on there at around 11-12pm Monday. More cops. I think it was an accident though.

Keep any documentation (medical, police reports, etc etc). Lawyer up, and sue TF outta racetrac.
If they have a “no loitering” sign posted then I see them being liable for damages. They allowed loiters to stay around, which assaulted your wife.
And for BRPD. I’d make a ton of noise regarding them….They already feeling the heat with narcotics corruption, so I’d apply more heat to them.
