Consider yourself blessed. Convincing your spouse is the major obstacle to getting the frick out of this lost cause state.

I’ve had it. But my kid has some more school to finish. When she’s done, the wife and I may look at getting out.

Of course, if my house gets destroyed, all bets are off.

She sounds like a smart lady.

Ive spent some time recently in Colorado,Tennessee and Arizona. I come back to LA and its like WTF am i doing. My job is tied to south Louisiana and I have no degree. In my mid 40's,I don't have too many options. But good God I want out.

My parents and grandparents grew up in Saint Helena and Livingston parishes. Louisiana is all we knew. Baton Rouge isn’t the Baton Rouge of the 70’s or 80’s.

I am a single man in my 50’s. I never had kids and maybe that’s a good thing. I would not feel good about raising a family in Baton Rouge or New Orleans. Once Sherwood Forest area went to shite, I knew it was over.

The leaders don’t care any more. Cortana mall is a memory. I don’t feel safe anywhere north of Florida boulevard. When BR and New Orleans eventually go broke, it’s lights out for our universities and state.

Whomever said you don’t realize how bad it is until you get out…was dead on
After I graduated from LSU, I spent 5 yrs in New Orleans…didn’t hate it, had a lot of fun partying etc but when I was asked to spend 3 months in Houston for work, it was very clear how shitty La was…I moved to Houston, then San Antonio, Dallas, Thousand Oaks CA and then back to the Dallas area…(McKinney, Anna).
Love the food traditions and people of Louisiana but can’t imagine moving back there…
BTW- I’ve spent over 1/2 my life away from Louisiana and I have had zero experiences with natural Disasters except for Louisiana.

Hurricanes are a very small part of why Louisiana sucks

I am seeing an awful lot of Louisiana tags here in North Alabama the last several days. I suspect more than a few won’t go back to LA permanently.

South Louisiana will always be “home” but I can’t ever see myself moving back.

Once you rip the band aid off and live other places you might feel the same.

Funny thing is if you live up here a while you'll get all excited about a good solid week of below zero temps because that is good ice making weather. Get those lakes frozen with a good solid 16 inches of clear ice and you can drive out to your heated ice shack w/electricity and fish in your living room. It's awesome.

Where would be a good place for a 32 y/o, single, male to move to West of Hill Country in Texas where the job market is plentiful, women are fine, and the community is conservative? That's number 1 on my list.

NO!

-30 in Wyoming told me NEVER!

I hate cold weather. Absolutely detest it.

Stay for your kids high school, but buy within a couple of years. I am so glad I am out of there. Live in Greenville SC. Paid 133 dollars a sq ft for a gorgeous house in the burbs. Drove to Lake Lure yesterday. Gorgeous

Plus, Louisiana is a shithole.....

I have travelled to all lower 48 states, and there are some great areas to live.

Louisiana is home, but I could leave her easily.

Youngest graduates HS in 7 years, retire in 6. Already planning my exit out of this war zone, political nightmare, traffic redden third world country. If there is one thing o accomplish before I die for my kids is move them away from here and get them established somewhere actually worth living. Drinking Jambalaya and LSU I can do anywhere. This State and especially Metro and surrounding suburbs of BR are beyond fixable. It’s to far gone and only getting worse and worse.
