Gotta take that step. Its a two way street if it doesn't work. Sitting, waiting and things will take forever.

Smart woman. I absolutely loathe this shithole. I'm retiring in less than a year and the second my wife does the same, I'm going back to Texas. If I can talk her into Montana or Wyoming, even better. This state has absolutely zero redeeming qualities for me.

Boise certainly felt cold

Just curious, but how was the transition from Louisiana's weather to a place that has a real snow winter?

Boise's winter isn't too much to handle. We really don't get terribly much snow up here, and when it does snow it often doesn't stick. It was a transition for sure, but we got accustomed to it within the first year. The first snow of the year is awesome, and then you kinda want it to go away just because it makes driving a little tougher.

If we had moved to somewhere with a legit winter like Massachusetts or Montana or something it'd be different.

You must have some data on assaults or robberies you're referring to? Because BR has been shattering all time murder rates the past few years and 2021 will be higher.
It's true that this covid shite has caused a very recent spike, so I'm not sure about 2020 and 2021. I'm sure the guy who posted "Baton Rouge isn't like the 70s and 80s" would have said the same thing a few years ago as well.

These stats are Louisiana-wide, but hard to think Baton Rouge would be negative outlier in a long-term trend of crime going down.

The murder rate for 2019 was 11.7/100K. The average rate of the 2010s was 11.1.

The average in the 1970s was 14.1.

The average in the 1980s was 13.5.

Just glancing at the tables, robbery looks shockingly lower than in the 80s (like, less than half as much) and a good bit lower than the 70s.

Burglary is also staggeringly lower.

Assault is the one that looks perhaps comparable or even slightly higher.

But the narrative that the 70s and 80s were halcyon days...the data just don't support that.

Louisiana historical crime stats
