Oh, I saw it on Old School Creepy. I usually like the original posts more than the comments over there.

Because white men killed them all after stealing that land that belonged to the Injuns.

You realize there are roughly 200,000 wild buffalo in North America right now, right?
Check out this link. Notice how in the first few seconds they mention how thousands of Buffalo come to Yellowstone during the rut.

Good luck driving through those states, and you could forget about farming too. Imagine 500 buffalo running across the interstate.
5000 or more would be more likely in the big herds of the 1800's. There are reports of trains being held up for hours.

I’ll bet OP probably also thinks polar bears are going extinct.

Bison were brought back and have made a full recovery.
What sucks is the California grizzly (the one on their state flag) was completely killed off by ranchers and hunters. The last one was shot in the late 1950s. The same thing happened to the Mexican grizzly bear in the 1970s.

The meat eater podcast is so good, and I don’t even hunt.

All of that lead to the buffalo’s demise not just the white mam
No one said it was only because of the white man. Obviously the natives hunted too but most of it was done by American or European poachers and hunters (including American settlers), and even the US Army (people like Buffalo Bill were hired). Also some of it was by disease.

I have seen a few roaming around Haslet, TX, in a pasture.
no danger of running out of them, no need for millions of them
