I seriously wonder how many of the same subReddit's we subscribe to.

Maybe this is why I've defended you in the past; we must have some interests in common.

Good luck driving through those states, and you could forget about farming too. Imagine 500 buffalo running across the interstate.

Rinella is incredible. One of the only hunting shows I like just because of how authentic he is. A wordsmith too. Dude describes shite so well.

No most of the killing occurred in the 1800s and much of it not by them.

Close, they were killing them all. Then European diseases started killing all the Indians, and the buffalo population exploded. Then the buffalo hunters and Indians damn near hunted them to extinction.

That’s not true. The buffalo population was in the tens of millions around the time of the Europeans arrival. By the time the buffalo were being killed off in droves, the native population was already much smaller than they originally were.

The natives didn’t settle the plains and hunt buffalo on significant numbers until the Spanish brought horses. The Plains indians didn’t move out that way until the 1600’s. French traders also hunted a shite ton of buffalo east of the Mississippi in the 1600’s.

True.
1. Indians gained horses after the Spanish entered Mexico then got gun later.(efficiency went way up)
2. Indians were not the environmentalists people want to believe they were. (a lot of waste and they killed buffalo whenever they wanted to)
3. Over population of buffalo when the Indians started dying off. (Lead to massive die off)
4. Railroads/buffalo hunters. (huge numbers killed with maximum efficiency)

All of that lead to the buffalo’s demise not just the white mam
