Do you want to buy my DVC timeshare?

did one trip without kids. It was fun. Me and then wife stayed at the Beach Club. Walked to Epcot daily for food and wine. Mostly just drank and ate. Room was very close to back entrance to the park. Think that trip cost more than a family trip because we also ate at Victoria and Albert's and Monsour Paul.
Our issue is that we did an 8 day trip to Paris and Amsterdam for the price of a 5 day trip to Disney

Obviously there are the Disney adults who make their lives about Disney and will spend most of their free income on it.
I've told this story here before, but years ago the wife and I took a trip to Disney.
We ate hibachi at the Japan Pavillion. You know how they just seat you next to whoever when you eat hibachi? We were seated next to a couple a few years older than us.
The man looked like Ignatius Reilly; overweight, mustache, greasy hair
The wife had horse teeth and was decked out in sequin Mickey shirt, sequin Mickey shorts, sequin Mickey hat, and all tied together with a sequin Mickey fanny pack.
I was talking to the husband and asked how long they'd been at Disney.
"Two weeks," was his reply.
"Wow two weeks? Thats a long time."
"Yeah, we have another two weeks to go. We do this a few times a year."
So this guy and his wife spend up to three months a year in Disney. Dude had money though. He owned a manufacturing business that his dad passed down to him.

I always stayed offsite.. And to aviod parking fees i would drive to the Polynesian and tell security i wanted to go get a Dole- wip from inside. I then would park and ride the monorail for free all day.
Yeah they have cracked down. Now you need to show a stay reservation or a dining reservation at that resort within so many hours.

Nobody stays at the Contemporary because it's awesome, they stay there because walking a couple hundred yards with catatonic kids in Florida heat to a icy hotel room beats all the other options
you make a trip to disney sound so appealing.

Yea I agree, but depends on the savings. Parking my car and not having to worry about anything (other than the crowds) for a week is nice…. That’s why I like the dining plan as well, it may not save money, but I’m not passing up the steak, lobster, etc. bc I’m balking at the price

Since 2023 all my vacations have been solo or meeting family in Europe and they have all been ready less than Disney vacations.
Disney was crazy high. I find Europe cheap in comparison even eating out 3 times a day.

No chance I'd ever do that. I can cash in Marriott points and stay at the Swan/Dolphin hotel and walk to EPCOT, which is the only Disney park worth visiting IMO.
Magic Kingdom is a huge disappointment, and I'm sure those hotels tied to that monorail are lame too.

You can normally fly to Paris, go to Disneyland Paris, stay on property, and fly home for cheaper than going to Disney World in Orlando and staying on property.

Last time we went to Disney was a few years ago. My buddy has a million Marriott timeshare points. He basically gave them to me, and I just paid the transfer fee.
It was pretty nice having a condo to stay in with a kitchen and separate rooms. And not being on the grounds kind of took the pressure off to be at the parks first thing in the morning.

Tokyo is also cheaper. If you can get it under $1k each.
The park is cheaper and hotels are cheaper. But it's the most crowded parks

Disney is expensive. A one-day park hopper at Disneyland is $200+.

Just fyi u can get the DVC villas much cheaper than the rooms. Just rent the points from a member.

Yeah it can be but airfare can be high unless you use something like zipair. .
Tokyo Disney is also super packed and can be hard to get tickets since they don't accept most US credit cards. You normally have to go through a third party seller to get them a couple of months before your trip.

I just looked at rooms at the Polynesian resort i
Polynesian is one of the best hotels on property.
Plenty of other options to fit a budget on the grounds.
Polynesian is up there with Yacht and Beach Club and the Boardwalk.

Tonga toast and potstickers are awesome. However, they are changing the potsticker method.

We stayed at the Polynesian my first time going to Disney World in the early 90's when I was a kid. I'll never forget walking into that lobby the first time.

Fun fact: Main character female from the luau now sells Hilton Vacation Club in Orlando. She was not shy talking about it.
