As if they dont already have enough reasons on why they cant work, or have to take off early, or cant work as fast, have to come in late....

now, I have to excuse someone for taking a "Mental Health day" ?

-not a personal day
-not a sick day
-not a vacation day

what is this new thing I now have to concern myself with?

So you feel stressed out? Losing sleep, too much pressure? It's fricking called being an adult, and sometimes work just sucks.

how the frick our society has gotten so damn soft

Isn't that what weekends and recreational drugs are for?

Dude, I didn't get many likes on my Instagram last night. Just give me a break and sympathize.

Mental health day is just code for personal day. Ferris Bueller did it in 1985, this is hardly a millennial concept.

So some 20 year old chick wants to stay at home in her pajamas and somehow every "millennial" does this?

A millennial coworker of mine came in today not being his normal self. He was definitely extremely distressed about something happening outside of work. It looked like he was going to cry all morning but was holding it together. My bosses and he met and they gave him the rest of the day and tomorrow off. I honestly think it was best for him to resolve whatever it could have been.

Also, are you my boss??

Dude. You need to take a mental health day to decompress. You seem stressed.

I dont care at all. You can go murder some hookers for all I care

they dont think this is applicable to their PTO

this is an all new excused day off that doesnt ding their vacation days, nor their sick days, nor their PTO

What if a person has both a personal time and sick time allowance?

I personally wouldn't allow my employees to use sick time for this, but if they wanted to use personal I say go for it.

Tell them to pick one, if they're taking a day off, they have to use a day of leave one way or another.

Not the same in this case, it's actually using sick leave to address mental health issues. The person has mental health issues and took a day to sort through them using sick leave.

I have no problem with it. Sick leave is there for you to use.
