I think most cities seem to expand inexplicably unevenly, as far as geography goes.

Houston burbs won’t stop expanding north and west yet equal distance northeast is almost exclusively untapped.

East of 45 on 99 is basically nothing which is odd.

I flew out of DFW Thursday and was amazed at the scale of the neighborhoods on the north and east side. Frisco looks like a suburban kingdom

You would think Atlanta would grow north towards Chattanooga

It is. Look at northern Cherokee and Gordon(Calhoun) Counties. Pickens is exploding.

East towards Athens

Look at Jackson, Barrow, Walton, and Oconee Counties.

Well, part of it is that the nice parts of Dallas just kept going north into suburbia.

South Dallas is ghetto so you would have to go through the ghetto to get there.
Now, having said that those towns are getting much larger. Midlothian, Waxahachie, and other towns are getting much bigger.

Hit the nail on the head

South of I-30 in DFW is about 80% not desired

I live in the actual city of Dallas and can confirm. While I love my house and the area I live in, when I go to friends houses in places like Frisco, Prosper, etc… it’s incredible the scale of the neighborhood. These people live in legit mansions and my 2000 square foot basic single floor house in Dallas is the same price as their 5000 square foot 2 story mansion with spiral staircases and private ponds.

Sometimes it makes me want to move to the suburbs…

Anybody who lives in Louisiana complaining about the south dallas “ghetto” is hilarious

Like any major city Dallas has sketchy areas.

But any semi large city in LA is 3X more “ghetto” than Oak Cliff or Pleasant Grove

I wonder where all of the people are coming from. All of these places exploding, yet the news will tell you population is falling bc of low birth rate.

All big cities suck imo. Ideally I'd live in a town with about 20k people.

Is it really a suburb when Frisco holds many F500 companies in its urban core? I'd be willing to bet more than Dallas Proper.

It seems like to me the money just relocated.

Because those Dallas fools want easy access to either Winstar or Choctaw Casino, depending if you're close to 35 or 75.

Saying this as if Nashville is some utopia is hilarious. Nashville freaking blows as hard as the music coming out of there.

Up 75 past Cherokee is not exploding. Up 400 is. Not exactly towards Chattanooga.

The metroplex is fricking huge. People underestimate its size and road structures.
