There should have been more testing from the start correct? The government fricked that up royally correct?

In a perfect world, sure. But this does not account for all that we do not know. The unknown unknowns, if you will. And the infantile style of American criticism where a problem in this giant nation occurs, and the infants immediately point at the President and demand he be all-knowing and all-powerful. It's a very child-like manner of non-thinking, more of a whine than an honest critique.

Where did I say that people or the media were not politicizing the virus?

I replied to you but didn’t mean that you didn’t think this was politicized.

Only Salmon, Queen of The Shrieking Lightweights would think that asking for cooperation and unity across party lines in the face of a potential National Health Emergency is shrieking.

Of course, that's what makes you Salmon, Queen Of The Shrieking Lightweights. Here's to you, Margaret.

In other words, my response defeated your limp assertion with facts and logic, and you have to angrily type something to save face.
Got it. Great point. Rage on, Progressive Hero of Our Times !

One thing we do not know is why we didn't elect to use testing kits available from the WHO, and instead decided to develop our own. We don't know that because nobody involved in that decision has told us. If this outbreak has taught us anything, aggressive testing and quarantining those infected has been successful(see: South Korea), while not aggressively testing people has been a disaster(see: Italy). We are currently on the Italy tract.

And on the other hand, some could look at this as an opportunity for a President to absolutely shine. I mean, Dubya was over 90% national job approval after 9/11 because he took a tough situation and fricking shined. He was a leader. He offered calm. He offered encouragement. He offered leadership. He offered accountability. He truly did a helluva job in the months after 9/11.

wouldn't happen today. a lot has changed in those near 2 decades

if a 9/11 event happened today with a GOP person in office it would be insanity in the major media all the way down through the local media who relies on the same coordinated talking points/attacks.

just look at the difference 10 years has made between h1n1 coverage and COVID-19 coverage

You realize that Salmon STARTED his participation in this thread by calling me a retard? And that I then responded with specific facts and data that illustrated my point? Of course you don't. But you should.

when the initial travel bans were first proposed (to be more like SK) it was criticized for being discrimination. that narrative STILL exists

Are you really arguing that we shouldn’t be testing people???? Are you that fricking dense???

He's arguing that people like you will call him an authoritarian dictator putting people in concentration camps like Hitler if/when forced isolation of areas and not people are enacted. People like you will probably call it racist too. Because why not?

People are so used to politicians "not letting a crisis go to waste" that genuine solutions, rather than a useless partisan wishlist like free Medicare and UBI being forced through, is seen as incompetent. It's amusing to watch people get mad at every act taken by this administration, not because those acts aren't helpful, but because Trump has the audacity to waste a crisis without scoring some policy wins (or more accurately, not letting the leftists score theirs.)

To the OP, this is being politicized because Americans want it to be.

I do not disagree with the sentiment of this. I said as much on this board previously. Why would anybody? I've been down since last Friday and have self-quarantined for reasons I've given elsewhere on this board at great personal expense. So more test kits ! I'm just curious as to how you would REFLEXIVELY craft your critique around all the childish partisan Orange Man Bad language. Make your argument but leave the infantilism at home, Spleen. How does any of your hysterical anti-Trump perma-melt garbage HELP ANYBODY? Take a breath and try to be part of the solution here, Let's solve a problem instead of screaming "RacistXenophobe".

I've found that statements such as, "so what you're saying is..." is usually followed by some moronic intentionally wrong understanding of the post that triggered it.
