re: Why is this virus being politicized?

Most intelligent people, whether they lean right or left, understand a virus is not a political thing.

But to ignore that a certain element views this tragedy as a means to an end, and is thus very happy about it and the economic turmoil it is causing, is showing a lack of common sense.

People are being forced to stay home from work and/or school because otherwise, people would still feel obligated to go. They don't stop going until they are told to stop going.

It’s literally the center for disease control. It’s in the fricking name. If they aren’t active in planning ways to, I don’t know control the spread of a disease, then why are they government funded?

And trump is not beyond reproach and I’ve never indicated otherwise. But blaming him for this is bullshite, especially when his administration wanted/encouraged people to social distance for 3+ weeks, wanted to suspend trace from infected areas about a month ago, and has repeatedly affirmed that good hygiene is the best way to not catch this.

Should he have opened up funds sooner for more testing? Yes. But other than that, what could the administration do?

And on the other hand, some could look at this as an opportunity for a President to absolutely shine. I mean, Dubya was over 90% national job approval after 9/11 because he took a tough situation and fricking shined. He was a leader. He offered calm. He offered encouragement. He offered leadership. He offered accountability. He truly did a helluva job in the months after 9/11.

Unfortunately, some people just don't have the ability to shine during crisis so they blame the media and political punditry for highlighting their own shortcomings. Pretty sad.

Yeah, Trump is a part of the problem (and not just regarding the Coronavirus but of the shite situation society has been swirling down into since 2001), but *trigger alert* YOU are just as much a part of that problem- as am I. But regarding who's most at fault, especially for the currently-increasing rate of societal meltdown: It's people like you and the people like the, "muh conspiracy" crowd that are MOST at fault.

You are sheeple. You are cattle- cattle following your little trusted saviours into the slaughter pen where you thought they'd bring you the land of milk and honey. You poor little things on the extremes think that one man or woman in an oval office and a handful up on a hill where a capital is located can change Providence? Can save the world? Can manage 330 million people effectively and all at once? All I can do is laugh about it because it's so pitiful.

To be fair, the, "muh media" people are basing their bias off the most accurate information at hand: The mainstream media and social media alike have poisoned society; to deny this is outright lunacy. But sheeple like you will: You're akin to a nest full of chicks taking in what momma media regurgitates into your mouths (or in this case, your shriveled little minds) to sustain you and your pitiful existence where you've zero self-identity: You live and die by the screen that tells you what others are doing and saying. Essentially, your problem is that you need to get a life- your own life.

Just like I said in the Coronavirus thread: Per usual, throughout history, it'll be the free-thinking, strong-minded men and women who will restore order to this mess, and those people will come from the middle of the spectrum on where they stand- people unlike yourself.

Reason and logic and truth are the "tortoise" in the race, and *spoiler alert* the tortoise wins the race every time. EVERY time. People like yourself- people who stand on the graves of those who came before you and what they did to progress Western civilization to its peak thus far in history as well as the ones who are working for it now- ought to be ashamed...but we all know you're not: Any human that can, with a straight face, stand on the graves of the dead (and the living alike) who did, are, and will suffer to give back more than what they took is not only a hypocrite, but a miraculous escapee from the claws of natural selection; because they're not very cognizant of their surroundings.

We got it: You hate Trump, you'll hound the son of a bitch until he's either dead or voted out, and you and your ilk will take down any-and-everybody else and thing down with the ship- INCLUDING your integrity and what's left of your logic and country. The same will apply from the other side if Uh-Oh-Joe gets elected.

..when I haven't used any of those words in this thread. You are a clown, but I'm in a good mood this morning and will engage with you. So, here are the 3 things he said in his PREPARED remarks that the WH had to almost immediately clean up for him.

1. All cargo from Europe was being halted for 30 days. This is the one that sent the futures market plummeting.

2. All travel from Europe was being halted for 30 days. This actually only applied to foreign nationals. Can you imagine the panic of US citizens traveling in Europe right now if they were tuning in to this address? It certainly would have freaked me out.

3. Insurance companies would waive all copays on corona virus treatment. Not sure if the WH actually cleaned this one up, but several insurance companies have since come out saying only testing for it would have waived copays.

Also, I don't expect the president, any president, to fully contain a virus outbreak like this. That's a ridiculous and impossible expectation. I do expect a president to have competent staff in place to combat an outbreak like this, and I expect a president to be honest with his/her citizens about the situation. This administration so far has met neither of those expectations.

That's absolutely laughable. All Democratic Executive branch responses are BY DEFINITION "brave, confident, responsible, wise, masterful" etc.

All Republican Executive branch responses are "racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic" etc. With Republicans they rarely if ever even bother with anything beyond your beloved Progressive "he's an Orange Xenophobe" trope.
