As a qualified health professional, sure. The business side of it isn't the same right now.

What? I’ve worked for two top 100 companies in the world and neither were 5 rounds. Both sets basically went like this. My first “interview” was a phone call asking what my schedule looked like and making sure they had the information on my application correct. The second “interview” was someone pretty much asking to go over my resume. And the third (real interview) was a panel. I wouldn’t even call the first two rounds an interview. Although both times they already knew who I was from my work history but I have never heard of 5 rounds of interviews.

Yeah that first one is a screener to make sure you’re still interested, give you a few details about the role, and set up a legit interview. I don’t count that as an interview either.

i mean, are your tech friends stupid? when they got a call for the 3rd interview, they should've told the person they were moving on. When they asked "why", they should've answered, "because I'm too good to work at a company that can't make the right decision and hire me already." There is zero reason to do any of that if it wasn't known up front when applying for the position. It's a waste of time and a company you don't want to work for anyway.

I work in Tech. It isn’t uncommon for lengthy interview processes. These companies prize culture and want many people to approve of your personality.

I had Gartner approach me once. They’re a legit cult. I stopped it after round 2 as I found out the comp had a high floor, low ceiling, but it would have been a 6-7 round type of deal.

Often people leave after 3-4 years for better roles and better salary. That's especially the case in anything touching tech. But it's common among millennials and especially Gen Z'ers in almost every non-manufacturing field.

5 years is seasoned AF for some consulting and former FAANG companies.

6-7 years at the same place in tech.....someone is either complacent or they are on a project they happen to love. At that point they are probably seeing their employer pick up less experienced people at higher salary bands and higher levels. That's hard to sit through and a lot of people move on.

We can’t find engineers and drafters fast enough.

Civil, electrical, and commercial.

Yep, I was on my third job 18 months out of college (the last move was a semi-internal transfer from a hospital to the corporate healthcare organization). Early in your career, it's the best and easiest way to get a pay increase, and as long as you're moving upwards I don't think it's looked at in a bad light (I don't view it that way when reviewing resumes).

Seems like a LOT of IT jobs have been eliminated...there have been many stories of big layoffs at a lot of IT companies. Job market in general is smoking hot though....

Need any estimators? I haven’t done it in years, but I wouldn’t hate living on the North Shore.

It’s really not, though. They had an article last week out of the federal reserve saying that they had overestimated jobs created past year by over 500k. The actual job growth was less than the labor force population increase from legal immigration alone. No, we’re net losing jobs right now, and the only growth is in part time jobs.

Part time and government hires are the only things propping up this very sick economy.

Utility work as well. They sub out almost all of their design work, interconnects especially, so if your have a PE behind your name and can manage a project you can go a lot of places.

BS .

If you don’t at least do a little preparation, and/or they call you and catch you off guard and maybe you’re between work appointments and rushed, or just happen to say something wrong since you don’t have ur resume sitting in front of you- you can talk your way out of getting a legit “first” interview.. hasn’t happened to me, but it happens.. treat every “touch” and every conversation with a prospective employer as an interview, or you might lose out .

I think AI is overplayed in what it can do now

But isn't one of those things is it can make you a lot more efficient writing code/programming?
