Y'all like to shite on everything, and I mean this in the most respectful way possible. Louisiana people love to bitch, complain, argue and disagree more than any folks I've ever seen. I sometimes think the only thing your state residents agree on is the crappy LA politics.

My cajun relatives are pretty laid back and easy to get along with, but you perfectly described my parents and everyone else I know who is from the North shore or lived there in their younger days. When they're not going all Foghorn Leghorn, it's a Seinfeldian neurotic critique of every damned little thing. It's exhausting at times and really cuts back on my enthusiasm for family time. They HAVE to find something to bitch about or disagree about.

Sounds like the rest of the region.

Sometimes it seems like Texas has more ties and in common with South Louisiana than North Louisiana has in common with South Louisiana.

I’m constantly coming across people in Texas with South Louisiana ties. In all my years in South Louisiana I’ve never really met people with North Louisiana ties.

While we don't hate each other at all, outside of the UK-UofL rivalry, Kentucky is split into folks out in Western Kentucky (flat and looks Midwestern but the people are the most Southern of the state) Louisville metro, Northern Kentucky (Cincinnati metro), here in Lexington is the Bluegrass region (bourbon, horse farms, UK basketball, tobacco.....all the shite you stereotype as Kentucky) and of course Eastern Kentucky (mountains, hillbillies, coal, poverty, country singers, Bluegrass music)

But Kentucky state pride is absolutely a thing for us.

Lots of cajuns moved into SE Texas in the 1900's, for some reason.

My dad and all the other people here I know from the Northshore area ended up here in the 1960s or 70's.

I'm sure economics were the major motivation for both groups. Oil & gas also brings a lot over. Yall would hate the price of crawfish here.

I don’t like anyone. I assume everyone else is like me, but I don’t know.

You know what the state was like before Huey Long? All the money and power ran through New Orleans - and stopped there.

What % of the state’s population was there in New Orleans at the time?

Huey Long is the cancer that is still killing Louisiana. Arrest the family, seize their illegitimate gains, and blow up his statue, and rename those bridges.

I grew up in far North Louisiana, went to college at Louisiana Tech, & then moved to New Orleans after college to live for about a decade. I was blow away by how little New Orleans natives & most people who grew up in South Louisiana actually knew about North Louisiana. They basically knew nothing, and they could care less that they knew nothing about it. They had heard of Shreveport and that was basically it.

Somewhat true. However, New Orleans, Lafayette, Baton Rouge, Lake Charles, and their staff, committee, and representatives on the LHSAA bitched and moaned for years when Evangel, West Monroe, Ruston and so basically owned the state in terms of high school football.

That, coupled with the few times LSU played in the Independence bowl, were the times were north Louisiana received talk and publicity.

Wrong. South Louisiana hates North Louisiana.

And to be fair, we are pretty starkly culturally divided at about ellic.

If there’s one thing everyone on here seems to agree on, it’s that bogalusa is bad. They haven’t been here in 15 years but it’s bad

Couldn't be further from the truth. You people are the ones always starting threads about how nothing matters north of I 10. Meanwhile we're quietly minding our own business until we're inundated with refugees fleeing yet another hurricane.

Most areas of the state are overwhelming shitholes with diminishing redeeming qualities. The more the qualities diminish the more each region wants to act superior.
