Short-sighted, small-minded.

That is such a lie. South Louisiana makes fun of North Louisiana way more than the other way around.
That's utter bullshite. It's about equal and it isn't mean spirited, for the most part, just more of an acknowledgement of how different we are.
I have spent quite a bit of time in North Louisiana and made quite a few friends there, but we really had little in common culturally other than love of the outdoors.

Should have come up with a better option than an adulterer and an unlikeable mental midget to run against him

Got an Uncle that lives in North Louisiana. Somewhere up and around Jena. That mfer hates South Louisiana and wishes North Louisiana would concede and make their own state. Think he's gonna run for state representative soon to and push hard for it

I mean Baton Rouge isn’t “culturally” Louisiana either.

Now, I haven't spent a significant amount of time in every state in the US, but the only state I can think of that may have such a sharp cultural divide within the state is North v. South Florida.
Western and Eastern Pennsylvania are like this. Pittsburgh and Philadelphia could not be more different culturally.
Also, Upstate NY vs NYC area.

By that standard 75% of LA isn't culturally LA

The only thing I know for sure is that everyone from West Monroe is trashy.

South Louisiana is the only place I've visited, lived, or worked, where old people talk shite about people from the next parish over or the next town over like they're a lesser species of humans.
Even Deep East Texas doesn't quite reach that level. Some East TX towns are close to it at times, but not quite there.

You have a point , perhaps CENLA would be better ,it's really a buffer zone between the Cajun region and the Protestant Belt.
It’s weird how there’s little to no buffer zone IRL. One town is cajun then you cross a creek or something and it’s twangy. Alexandria is a real estimated buffer zone.
I-12 corridor is more like Florida panhandle than it is South LA

Really?
I love north Louisiana. I love south Louisiana. I’ve never understood the disdain that many from south Louisiana feel towards the north.
I always thought it was pretty damned cool that we lived in a state with such cultural diversity.

I know North Louisiana hates South Louisiana because South Louisiana Louisiana hates North Louisiana.
And Dallas can't touch Houston.

Huey Long is the last person to blame.
You might find his methods conflict with your opinion of "good government" but Huey put ALL rural Louisiana on the map.
It would have been decades before some poor kid could have gone to college, much less LSU.
As to the topic of north vs. south, no one I know in central or north LA has any disdain for S. LA other than everyone seems to hate NOLA, or what NOLA has become.
I am in south LA more than north LA for work and I can say that with a few exceptions, folks in S. LA are fine folks.
Now when you get to the money snobs around Baton Rouge or Lafayette, they both seem to look down on anyone but themselves or their circle. But frick them, they treat their own neighbors the same way.

I dont care what everyone thinks. My life is on the water in Louisiana. My alliance is with those who live upon the water and in camps in Louisiana. Thats my brethren, wherever they may be.
I love life upon the bayou and enjoy those who are stubborn, independent people who weather the storms and still thrive.
Bayou life forever. If you understand that then we are cool with you. You do your thing and i do mine. Errybody happy, happy, happy.

Louisiana certainly is a unique place in how different each area is. Just on the Northshore Slidell has more in common with New Orleans than any place on the Northshore. Slidell is nothing like Mandeville or Covington. Covington and Mandeville are sort of alike but one Covington is Old Money and Mandeville is new transplant money. Covington actually has some charm to it but outside of the lakefront area Mandeville is nothing but strip malls with no character. The you have Old Madisonville which more in common with Ponchatoula than it does Mandeville and New Madisonville which is nothing transplants and subdivisions. Bogalusa is closer to Picayune than anything in Louisiana. Franklinton isn't much better. Ponchatoula and Hammond certainly have some similarities being so close to each other but the people are much different. You can lump Amite, Independence and Kentwood together.

I grew up in far North Louisiana, went to college at Louisiana Tech, & then moved to New Orleans after college to live for about a decade. I was blow away by how little New Orleans natives & most people who grew up in South Louisiana actually knew about North Louisiana. They basically knew nothing, and they could care less that they knew nothing about it. They had heard of Shreveport and that was basically it.
The majority of people in North Louisiana love New Orleans because they love to go down there, party, go to Saints games, Mardi Gras, etc. You also have the Protestant religious die hards who look at New Orleans as the spawn of Satan. You just have to ignore those idiots.
