But there are practical considerations.

There's the problem of unregulated gambling: if you're going to allow gambling, you need to have some sort of system to make sure that the games are "fair" (e.g. the house's advantage comes from the rules, not stacking decks, weighting dice, or otherwise "cheating"). A system like that costs a lot of money, and is ripe for corruption.

There's the problem that gambling tends to be useful for crime: it's a great way to launder money, if done correctly.

There's the problem that gambling attracts crime (because a large amount of "uncontrolled" money is present in most gambling houses).

This is all nonsense. In states where gambling is illegal, we have "game rooms" creating worse situations.

The game doesn't need to be rigged, anyone who has ever taken a basic stats/probability class knows that the game favors the house.

The real reason we have this debate is that bitter housewives conned their way into gaining the right to vote with the 19th Amendment and vice crackdowns suddenly became popular among locally elected sheriffs. And we're at a point now where the casino operators benefit from the ban in other states, so no one is actively trying to change the law.

People should be allowed to do anything they want (prostitution, weed, gamble) as long as it isn't affecting others. Who cares if someone blows all there money?

With the sole purpose is money exchange it will lead to fixing of games, rigged slot machines, "loaded" dice, etc. as the crooks look to get any advantage to take money from others.

and there is NO possible way the market can sort these issues out?

Another issue, although less of a reason to me, yet important nonetheless, is the addiction issue that gamblers can easily get.Although self inflicted, gambling addiction affects very many others (family, children)

gambling addiction is literally the worst

however, this argument bears almost no weight given all the legal gambling options out there

The NFL claims they are but they aren't stupid, they know why people are watching Thursday night games and it's not because people are in jags vs Tennessee.

Adam sliver seems to be pretty pro-sports gambling or at least as much as his allows

he has to say they're against gambling, esp when in context of a team moving to Vegas

also did you catch this part?

The NFL is heavily involved with daily fantasy sports operators DraftKings and FanDuel via a series of team partnerships. Goodell has been careful to draw a line between DFS and sports betting, as well as differentiating season-long fantasy.

First off, some women do this anyways.

Secondly, you would definitely care when that same woman is asking for government welfare checks from her unplanned pregnancies. Not to mention the families ripped apart from the men planting their seeds in them. It might even lead to further extortion potential.

This may work in smaller, more homogeneous countries, but the US isn't ready.
